Arcane Odyssey's Combat Problem

I hate these stupid threads, stop saying this unbalanced that, that unbalanced this.
Reason mages are so op cause they have access to ultimate art and pulsar. But future updates will give ultimate art to fighting and weapons, but then you already nerf mages so now you have to rebuff them when other ultimate arts come out.

Ya’ll say pulsar op this and that, then hybrid builds ganna get them then its all fair and square.

no, we also need pure builds to have the good stuff, also pulsar is just not working on the idea level because rn you can literally just make it a better blast spell, which is NOT what it’s supposed to be. also we have the problems of fighting styles always trading blows with if they even dare use any attack other than the ranged one, and grabs also just being bad in general.

Guys guys we need spirit weapons instantly!!!1!111

yeah it doesn’t. You’ve just failed to transition lol

Weapon Techniques

So, Mages and Berserkers get special technique scrolls. Why not give some to Warriors as well(:smiling_imp: )?
DISCLAIMER: THIS IS A HORRIBLE IDEA. WEAPONS ARE ALREADY D U M M Y OP RIGHT NOW, THIS IS JUST A FUN IDEA

What are Weapon Techniques?

Weapon Techniques are special scrolls usable only by the pure build class “Warrior”(can be interchanged to any weapon build class, but then it might get chaotic).
Weapon scrolls can be applied to the specific weapon it is associated with. If it’s a One Bladed Technique scroll, that means it’s a skill you can apply to any One Bladed type weapon.

Examples

One Bladed Techniques:
Simple, yet efficient.
You can only use one technique per weapon. Meaning you can’t have 3 different techniques on one weapon.

  1. Laceration
If you know, you know. The user sheaths and unsheaths their sword, quickly slicing everything in a wide horizontal range. Deals slightly~ less damage than a Flying Slash, but still more damage than a Flash Strike.
  2. Instinct of the Swordsman
The user does a quick AOE circle slash. Whoever is caught in the slash will get slashed a second time in the stomach. If there are more than one enemy, the same action will be repeated, except this time multiple times for each enemy.

Two Bladed Techniques:
Slower but heavier hitting attacks, due to the amount of strength and stamina needed to wield two swords efficiently.

  1. Sword Draw: Cleaving Slice
The user does a quick horizontal double slash forward, instead of vertical.
  2. Sword Draw: Whirlpool
The user grabs both of their swords, and does a quick spin slash once, and another one, sending them into the air.(basically tempest then rising tide but cooler)

Thrusting/Piercing Weapon Techniques
Nearly “lightspeed” attacks, dealing low damage, but almost unreactable.

  1. Gleaming Pierce
The user almost instantly sends a quick “beam” into the enemy using their Rapier.
  2. Headhunter
Mouse aimed skill. While the users mouse is on the enemy, pressing the key assigned to this technique will teleport the user to the enemy, and the user will slit their throat. This move gives a 0.7s stun afterwards.

probably a ton of unbalanced ideas but i do not care

Uhm, well Arcane Odyssey isn’t suppose to be a PvP Game it’s actually suppose to be mostly PvE .

(yes I read your first argument…)

AO is not meant to be played like a PVE game. You know what happens if you only fight NPCs? The second a player comes, you die.

Plus, what are you even gathering items for if you aren’t gonna use them to fight? Oh well.

thats the point, this combat just doesn’t feel like its going to work properly. that being said after watching a video from my fav roblox yter, his moves were coming out instantly and block was actually fast. this probably means that my bad wifi has been the root of all my problems, I can’t imagine the combat being all that smooth either way, but I suppose I’ll only know once I get good internet. But NPCS definitely need some AI tuning

It is suppose to be a PvE Game, I don’t understand what you don’t get. It’s literately the aspect of all similar games, on the platform or not.

I don’t know if Vetex wanted you to only go around fighting ships and NPCs, but you do you

Because I like collecting stuff

If it were a PVE game the server sizes would be 1/there would be no PVP

Honestly, probably, but I think as they are now they are difficult enough to make players aware and I bet the Dev’s don’t really want them to be easy as all other games that tried similar aspects.

It’s meant to be an Open World PvE Game, as stated by the Dev’s themselves.

aight bro

aight bro is also what I’m gonna say when some dude jumps your ship for your sealed chests

Okay, that’s exactly like someone invading your world in Elden Ring. Just fight back, it’s part of the experience but isn’t entirely the purpose.

You just contradicted yourself? If it’s a PVE game how come someone else can attack and kill you?

It’s got a lot of PVE in it but it’s not a PVE game

???, it’s suppose to be a PvE based game. That dosen’t mean there can’t be combat. Have you not seen any other games that have said exactly the same thing?
