Arcane Odyssey's Combat Problem

ok/

Literally like RuneScape, it’s a PvE game but people time to time can still fight each other.

Ok.

Yeah, that’s what I thought. :man_cook:

Deepwoken was supposed to be PvE

No, Deepwoken was suppose to be PvP and im pretty sure was announced as a ‘combat game’.

wdym that’s what I thought

I don’t agree with your argument at all, I’m just not good at arguing with unreasonable people, which is why I gave you short answers.

→ Balancing

Realistically, every game has the problem you stated. If the Meta is taken down a new one would grow from it. That’s just a general issue, players will always find something that is better. It’s a bit hard to fix that given it’s been a problem for ages.

→ Combat
I can agree with the Camera Angle Issue, I don’t really like that. Though, endlag and start up has always been a game mechanic across MMORPG Games. It’s a key mechanic. I’m not sure about the Latency, I don’t think Vetex can actually fix that since it is a PLAYER issue.

→ Moves
I can see the problem with this. I can’t say anything other than it’s mostly player based. I’ve seen plenty who use the same respective moves in combat and those that have a variety for different situations.

Uhh, these are pretty short responses from me since I don’t have the time to go full on in depth but yeah.

Unreasonable? I gave you examples and all you’ve said was I was wrong. Not a single strand of evidence.

Its also annoying when you go to do a bounty then you almost defeat the person then their warrior and metal puslar mage friends come and 3v1 you

I’m pretty sure that AO focuses on exploration and PvE, stuff like that. I think I remember Vetex saying that PvP is more of a secondary aspect.

As a bloody Lightning Conjurer I can just smell the skill issue.

It’s not a focus but it’s still an important part of the game. Balancing comes third before bug fixes comes second before content. I think it’s best this way, and the people who are interested in it have their appeal to the game still.

why does everyone hate builds that synergize well :skull: it’s so fucking annoying
just because i decided to do research on what works well and what doesn’t does not mean i’m a metamancing clone, the forums in particular hate synergizing builds for some reason, likely because they’re ass at pvp and blame losses on the fact that the other guys build did +10% damage because water and lightning make sense to use together

To even apply it, you have to actually hit stuff
So that’s more skill issue on their part

Yeah, your right. PvP is an important aspect to the game, but PvE is pretty much prioritized over it.

only reason i care about renown is deckhands, just seperate them and i think most of us will shut up

yeah definetly. i mean not only do they need renown in general but also such HIGH amounts.

what i love about arcane odyssey is that it really isn’t that focused on pvp, or basically you can normally play the game without any pvp interaction fairly good. but then for some reason we have deck hands (though tbf the stats they give are miniscule), and they are now basically people with pvp in mind and stoopid stuff like that.

DUDE TRUE I HATE PVP BUT I WANT RENOWN SO I CAN MAKE MY SHIP BETTER SMHHHH STUPID BOUNTYHG UHUNTERS UGHUGHUGH

Note that I’m basically only saying this because I just lost some unprompted pvp fights:
Locking the meta behind gemcrafting (obviously having gems socketed will be more viable than not having them) is going to inevitably turn away players who don’t want to spend time and resources into leveling it up to perfect (because why even bother socketing if your gems aren’t as optimal as they should be?)
I’d say the gemcrafting system itself is fine, it allows for further customization of builds, but like you said with moves and balancing, most gem skills and types aren’t even worth having (why use anything other than attack/defense gems?).
Here’s my take: I’d say it’s fine to have gemcrafting, and the other crafting stats to a lesser extent, exist for the sake of stat tracking, but they should not affect the stats of the crafted items themselves, since that just ends up making some gems directly better than others just for a player’s commitment to what is essentially side content.
With food, it’s alright as is. With potions, I wouldn’t mind this change but gemcrafting is by far the worst offender of what I’ve discussed.

But yeah, thank you for addressing this stuff and prompting people like me to do the same
