Arcane Odyssey's melee combat might be good

I have never been satisfied with a Roblox game’s melee combat before. Even Black Magic 2, with all its fancy UIs and systems, suffers from a few major problems that ruin the game for me. However, Arcane Odyssey has the potential for melee combat I actually want to play.

To explain why, I’m going to break down a bunch of common issues with melee combat and explain how AO is dealing with them.

  1. It’s hard to judge the distance between two points, so it’s annoyingly hard to consistently tell whether an attack will hit its target. This issue is present in every single Roblox game with melee combat I can think of.
In AO, the character steps forward when they attack. This combined with generous hitboxes will reduce this effect.
  2. Shift lock is really janky. I really don’t like how it feels to turn it off and on.
This one was already fixed in WOM.
  3. Attacks have no impact.
The hitstun that has been added to attacks should give them a bit of juice.
  4. This one is more an issue with WOM than Roblox fighting games as a whole, but weapon clashing was just annoying.
    AYY, IT GOT REMOVED!

If AO’s combat isn’t as good as I’m hoping, I will kill Morden.
In front of everyone.
And I don’t give a damn.
Morden is going bye bye.

ayy

Rogue/GPO/Deepwoken

We all know that ranged magic/weapons will always prevail anyways

haha… its not that good bro.

Unrelated question, but do you like slower or faster battle systems? like B&I or BM2

Fr lmao

i already have a list of various things that need improvements (like i have big problems with the updated system)

i just want it to be good
So my build wont be garbage

Well it is unfinished.

We still have to wait on melee skills, at least melee will hopefully be a bit more viable this time around. Even if the combat isn’t god-tier.

Morden will probably only be a static NPC unless Vetex adds a boss fight against him.

We can only hope that vetex brings back immersive npcs

rogue’s base melee combat is actually pretty good (not the skills obviously)
super simple, easy to learn and several different playstyles depending on weapon

No, that would suck.

I’ve tried rogue. It suffered from some of the same problems.

I’m very picky about certain things that most players don’t care about, probably including you. I’m not expecting some advanced Black Magic shit, only something I want to play.

yeah rogue’s combat is a mess but the base combat is actually good
like the basic basic shit, m1 combos, m2, dodge, block, that stuff

*you’re

Yeah but you can’t just have melee skills carry the entire combat system
