Arcane Reborn: Wish you were good

heads up this will be me doing nothing but whining and ranting about everything that i dont like about arcane reborn so if you don’t care about it go spend your time anywhere else

arcane reborn. where do I even begin with this dumpster fire of a game

enemy design

one of the biggest issues the game has is that most of the bosses/ NPC’s are overtuned to hell, ramses can deal like 300 damage if you have the audacity of getting hit with his tornado which spawns right on you, verdies can kill you if you mess up twice

worst of all the fire wizard you can challenge in stratus town somehow hits just as if not HARDER than verdies while also dashing around the arena like a kid overdosing on sour candy because they never bothered implementing a proper stamina system to NPC’s

this is all in the first sea, the “easiest” one. im not going to rant about prometheus here because i’d be here for hours but i do want to mention that they did not take beam magics in mind when designing NPC’s. unless you manage to predict their beam with a magic barrier you’ll just take unavoidable damage

this by itself would be forgivable if they didn’t go on to make THREE side bosses with beam magics

sage, jace (the light captain at alalea) and harrison (light shadow wizard at cerulea)

sage and harrison in specific are real mind boggling decisions

you get the quest to go beat up sage around the end of the 2nd sea, level 200 ish, yet her INSTANT LIGHTNING BEAM WHICH YOU CANNOT AVOID deals upwards of 500 damage with DOT, which may I remind you the damage of said DOT gets DOUBLED if you are soaked

this by itself is already bad enough, but you have to fight her in a small island with her crew which may or may not have magic, each of them being a significant threat at that level

the only hopes that a level 200 has of beating her is by cheesing her with a magic bow and or guns

jace is essentially a diet sage as he does not have the DOT and the alalea guards cannot have magic. light magic still has a disgusting AOE at the sweet spot of its beam but compared to the other two he looks like a tickle monster

harrison is a hellfire fusion of sage, jace and the fire wizard

he’s got the instant AOE beam, shadow magic, the magic horn, AND the agility of the fire wizard

needless to say he’s just impossible to try and fight, unsure if you could beat him at the current level without cheesing him with ultimates/ AOE

drop chances

to summarize, the highest drop chance in this game is Ramses, with a 6.6% chance for him to drop any of his armour pieces. at maximum pity. the second highest is nestor with a 5%. do i need to say anything more.

if the boss you need to farm is in a dungeon you can say goodbye to an entire evening because you’ll spend that much time farming them only to get nothing in the end. because the droprates are shit. it’s either that or the boss is rupin.

last thing to mention is that the pity for prometheus and nestor rises by 1 every 3 KILLS.

so prometheus would go from 1 in 100, to 1 in 99 after killing him three times. you know. because he’s so easy to farm.

not to mention the fact that stormwall’s dungeon chests give dogshit rewards

the best gear me and someone got while farming prometheus was this


for clarification, stormwall’s dungeon chest has 3 unique drops to stormwall, the rest is just golden chest loot. you can get some neat stuff from there, but it’s nothing worth fighting prometheus for

i guess you can also get gems from it but. those are just for selling. you can get as much lamina as you need by doing the great pyramid dungeon and selling the loot you dont need from it, specially legendary charms.

charming objects

if you thought enchanting objects in WoM was a pain in the ass, you’d be correct, but reborn makes it look good

in case you’re unaware, here’s how enchanting works:
you need to gather the item you want to enchant (duh)get the specific charm for the enchantment you want, which may or may not be in stock to be bought at alchemists
then you need to gather hundreds of aurem to actually enchant the item

that sounds awful, doesn’t it? well get fucked that’s not all. it’s CHANCE BASED

that’s right, depending on the rarity of the item and charm, you’ll have a higher or lower chance to enchant for the alchemist to succeed. which by the way, enchanting rare items (rarity) with rare charms (also rarity), costs around 700 aurem (a lot) and has less than a 50% for it to work. dont even try enchanting exotic pieces or trying legendary charms at all.

what happens if the enchantment goes wrong? surely you just waste the aurem and maybe the charm, right?

WRONG

the item gets hit with a “Ruined” effect which completely GUTS it. hope you didn’t try enchanting an item piece integral to your build!

to ““fix”” this issue they added neutralizing charms to the game, which let you fix your ruined items for relatively cheap and at a guaranteed chance. good luck finding them, though! as they arent sold by alchemists as far as I know.

it’s also worth mentioning that alchemists have a proficiency, which makes them better/worse at enchanting items. the higher it is, the higher chance you’ll have for it to go well

this normally wouldn’t matter, as you’d want to enchant stuff at the latest town you can spawn in, but since enchanting shit is nigh impossible, they had to add a bandaid solution instead of fixing it properly

introducing: roaming alchemists! they have way higher proficiency than any stationary ones, spawn at random wilderness islands with no indicator that they’re actually there, and despawn after 15 minutes.

to tickle your balls some more, they have a 16% chance to be master proficiency alchemists, which i can only assume makes enchanting your gear a nigh guaranteed chance at the cost of all of your aurem which you could STILL fail at, causing you to waste several hours, days if not WEEKS for you to get all the resources you need to have a chance to enchant again

how do you find these alchemists? with a gamepass that tells you when lamina is most valuable so you make the maximum profit when selling items.

and now for what you've all been waiting for

legendary weapons

i don’t have to say anything else. they’re a flawed, obsolete system that rewards legendary weapon users and lets them build a hoard of overpowered weapons that you simply cannot challenge unless you’ve got one yourself.

worst part of it is that almost ANYTHING can get you one.
opening chests, fishing, lost cargo, they all have a chance to give you the global “Lynch this person” chart which is very paranoia inducing

questionable balance changes

the “Legend’s Resolve” is an accessory given to players that had a legendary weapon before the wipe of april 2020.

for some mind boggling reason, it gives superb stats and extra effects like 30% higher magic energy and 7+ health regen.

for an even MORE mind boggling reason, they decided to BUFF it

it now gives just as much power as prometheus’s crown and over 4 times the defense, not to mention the other effects previously mentioned

need i say anything

there are some good changes here and there but it’s very clear to which players the dev team wants to appeal to

thats everything i want to whine about for now. sorry if it was very negative but its just not fun to play. or do anything with. i’m very passionate about the arcane games and seeing reborn be so close yet so far from being actually enjoyable to play makes me want to weep

Wanna open the can of shit that’s the community

a few years ago i tried to get into the AR pvp scene. i joined the ag and would frequent sabura or whatever just to get some agr

9/10, i would get steamrolled by some guy with a legendary weapon
okay so i want to get one myself then. too bad, they got disabled because people kept flooding servers so they wouldnt have to fight people over a chart
especially with the recent enchanting thing, the legend’s resolve, its just not a good game to try getting into anymore
if youre playing casually its fine, but the game will always have horrible retention of players unless they can find a way to make the pvp far more accessible and legendary weapons easier to obtain

the devs are trying to make the game too “faithful” to the original AA. AA had issues and the devs wont try to fix it in spirit of keeping it faithful, but thats just how i see it. otherwise its probably like you said, theyre trying to pamper the people with 50 legendary weapons. they wont make legendary weapons easier to get, or allow people to buy them with robux or anything, since those cows will whine and complain

i didnt liked the grinding so i stopped playing arcane reborn, i especially didnt liked pvp where having 7 bounty can cause you to get jumped by entire fleet of ag players

game is undercooked and boring anyway

AR really is just AA but with modern-day rng slop tacked on

i’m on a new file with cannon fist and it’s dealing a grand total of 11 damage at level 120 something, nearly 200 strength level

i checked in the ar server and they mentioned that cannon fist genuinely just got gutted but i know better than to take what they say as complete truth, will update as i go along

I think Arcane Reborn also suffers from the issue of only combat balancing being PvP which is then forced onto PvE, as does Arcane Odyssey, but so much worse

Shame, Arcane Legacy was dropped and that we’re stuck with reborn now

arcane reborn could definitely be so much better if it fixed the issues that arcane adventures had instead of just copying it. the combat feels slow and clunky imo (altho maybe thats just a me thing) and the vfx and sfx are just not good, attacks feel really cheap. you can take what made aa unique from ao and still have that without all the problems that aa had

the moment the long awaited v1.2 releases with mainland and a bunch of aoers check the game out these problems are only going to grow more and more blatant, and the legendary weapon system is tbh the culmination of all of the bad design that aa has and its crazy how no one wants to fix it

another bug that has plagued the game for years

npc ships will sometimes aim their cannons directly at your ship rather than directly left or right

I think i once tried to play the game, but was constnatly stalked by high levels like some kind of animal in the zoo :sob:

Nothing quite like getting death threats for not wanting to give all your aurem away for promethean torch

Giant ball made of iron somehow dealing less damage than a doom island MC basic combat punch

Genuine suggestion and complaint from the AR community:

when new update comes out add the option to be able to choose ui styles i.e: classic (what we have now) and current (what will be in the future) the game feels too much like ao

Why do these people demand AR stays as bad as AA? Do they think vetex wouldn’t have reworked anything if AA survived? Why are they complaining about having higher quality?
