Azarel The Story Teller

Found him on blackreach island here’s what he had to say

I think this story might have something to do with the person depicted by these statues that you can find on a couple islands.

If the statue in the first pic is indeed the main character of the story and the statue at shieldguard is of the same person he must be an important figure for the Navy. I wonder if the Roland Kingdom is what became the Grand Navy?

honestly think it might be the thrygios secret

Thyrlos secret

You mean the guy next to the dead dragon? Yeah that could possibly be him.

I think the story is about Freedrock, because the Lazarus Curse had prevented him from staying dead for so long.

Not to mention, back when torren was canon, didn’t freedrock have some sort of reason to dislike torren.
Now someone who is basically just torren is the enemy of this person who is basically just freedrock

can you help me find him? is he in the big maze

No he’s in a cave with an entrance on the surface, there should be some iron bars and two dead guards at the entrance. Destroy the bars and just go straight.

ill try to find it, thanks

i found some map next to dead guy on blackreech

Oh neat

and wheres the cave?

i feel like its the aether crystal orb knight guy

where is the cave azarel is in???

RAAAHHHHH Now THIS is the lore that I live for. But this is 100% about about Freedrock and 80% about whatever Torren got retconned to become.

The Freedrock connection is pretty obvious, he has an Experimental Curse that gives him a chance to revive from each death, that’s basically exactly what Azarel is describing. Seems like Hera was the one who made it the Lazarus Curse and gifted it to Freedrock.

Torren isn’t as straightforward since a lot of his information is in retcon limbo and/or SUPER old, but I mean one of his titles was Kingslayer so that checks out. Plus his last name is Cross there’s a tentative connection to Cross Kingdom there. But what’s really interesting is this old info screenshot I saw on the thread for the first AO riddle:

Now of course A LOT of that information is outdated if not completely wrong now, but it gives some interesting groundwork. For example, the Roland Kingdom was originally Torren’s kingdom, but it seems Freedrock was the protector now. But if Torren is indeed the leader of Cross Kingdom then him having killed Freedrock many times could have been changed to just them fighting over the decades he defendedRoland Kingdom

And that last section where it talks about Freedrock having helped seal Torren could be what Azrael was talking about at the end of his dialogue. I forgot what he said exactly but it was along the lines of standing against an eternal rival? Could be that Torren still got sealed and Freedrock maintains/guards said seal? Though I guess it could be metaphorical and the eternal rival is death since they’re always “fighting”

If you look at the entrance that leads to Azarel’s hideout, you can find some skewered corpses of GN/Astoria kingdom soldiers.
Corpses skewered by wood.
Not natural, because how would that even happen?
Not by pure magic, because it would have disappeared a long time ago then.
Then…

Wotan must’ve been on blackreach.

Then you have this corpse

Skewered from a tree.

What the hell is wotan doing?

Yeah I was thinking that too. Unless Randal went nuts that has to be Wotan. Or some sick individuals just put that guy on that tree. Also does bro have wings? I did not notice that when I was there before.

Actually the more I look at it it doesn’t really have to be Wotan. Someone could’ve just made that no?

why’s bro got a freaky ass skeleton with those weird arm wing things :sob: or maybe they’re a descendent of the hecatoncheires and only got 8 arms total instead of 100

I would imagine more vegetation considering his power is more nature oriented while wotan is just pure wood.

I can see why people would make a skewer of GN soldiers but how are you gonna explain the image I sent? I mean it’s feasibly impossible and it would be easier to skewer it on something other than a tree. But it was specifically skewered on a tree. This isn’t something you do to just send a message

Still, what the hell was Wotan doing in the bronze sea all those years ago? I mean there’s no way it wouldn’t have been documented as an invasion, he’s WOTAN after all. Are you really telling me he can just sneak up like this? And why blackreach in specific?

I think the trees could still probably die eventually, but regardless I didn’t think it was Randal anyways.

Anyways the more I look at it the more it looks like people might have just impaled a guy on there rather then the tree coming out of the ground and impaling him. I think this might have more to do with whatever the weird cult/group that was drowning people in corrosive diseased water rather than Wotan. I really open to either, but rn to me that’s what’s looking more likely.

Unless there’s something I missed in which case please tell me

Look at where the stake is coming from, it’s jutting from the base of the tree. It would’ve been more effective to just skewer them on a branch or some other place that wasn’t a tree else but the victim was specifically skewered from the base of the tree

if it was just a cult or people trying to send a message, there was no need to go through the effort of skewering them from the base of the tree, they could have just hung the corpses somewhere on the grass or on a branch of the tree.

You can’t just make trees jut out spikes like that, well, unless you have the power to control wood itself.
