Something I’ve noticed quite a bit during my time playing AO is just how many clan banks are made. Clan Banks, as the name implies, are clans whose only purpose is to be used to store galleons by the player, is a symptom of the lack of an actual Banking system within AO.
The Arcane Universe has had Banks before, notably in the form of Nicholas who can hold player’s Lamina.
I propose that we add this mechanic into Arcane Odyssey: Adding in a Banker character that stores galleons for the players. This would cut on the cost of making Clan Banks, and allow players who own Clan Banks to join actual clans instead. In addition, players who are not in a Clan can keep their galleons safe.
In addition to a Bank, a new mechanic for AO could be made in the form of Shared Banks. Shared Banks are different in two forms: namely, it can hold Items, and Shared Banks are linked with the entire account. This way, a character from one file can place an item into the bank, and extract that item from their second file. To put it in perspective, it’s similar to the system in Wizard 101.
Since most items are level locked, Players would be unable to get overpowered gear early on, but it would allow for easier item transfers through the account. While this is possible now, it would require either a second alternative account which can be difficult if your pc cannot access the Microsoft Store (or if you are on XBOX, you would have to use your console and a computer/second XBOX). On the other hand, it can be through a transfer with another person, which leaves players at risk of scams. A Shared Bank would be a huge QoL change for this, and allow for the process of swapping items between files to be very quick and easy.
Really great suggestion I approve, having this and the addition of Marketplaces would be a good small economy update that could be made in the 1 month(s) of AO development cycles.
There’d have to be limitations, like maybe up to 1M Galleons, but the idea overall makes sense. I know Vetex doesn’t want the player to “cheat death” with banks, but we barely lose any Galleons on death, so the point is pretty worthless.
Also, Vetex saying No to ship despawning like the world will collapse if he doesn’t is just weird? We already have a five-minute Redock timer added, so adding a Despawn button that shares said Redock timer would be both easy and prevent things like ships agroing onto you when you’re across Sameria and people with Cannon Fist sinking it for fun.
I’m all in for the shared bank, although there should definitely be some limitations to avoid abuse of the system. As already said by PresidentStorm, lower level slots should not be able to take level-locked items from the shared bank. The bank should also have limited storage spaces, which could be increased by paying galleons.
Yes please! It is very annoying to use a clan bank, as to get a decent capacity, you need tons of infamy. This would also be nice because I have some gear to transfer, but dont find the time to ask a friend.
having these small features are fun little things that make games stand apart from one another. it gives a game soul. also as another one said, this was coding break for him basically
though sucks it probably added a whole lotta memory leaks
