Understanding the mechanic
Sunken item sets are unique items that can be found only from fishing them out. There are 2 ways of getting sunken items:

Playing with devilcatching it from fishing with 1 in 2,000 (0.05%) chance - 3k Pity system. There is also a pity timer, which guarantees that if you catch 3,000 fish, the 3,001st catch is guaranteed to be a sunken item.
As sunken items are considered as item, not a fish or a junk, meaning the “Item Chance” stat is the main stat we need to rely on.

Dont forget about AO’s greatest addition to fishing since WOM times - Pity system. What that means is that instead of playing game of chances, we can just rely on pity, and to do so, we have to rely on Lure stat, or are we?

Best Combination of Stats
Currently we have 2 rods - Bronze(Palo Town) and Collector’s(Shell island) and 4 enchantment for any rod - Sturdy, Luring, Magnetic and Lucky.
Out of 4 enchantments only 2 are increasing the stats that we need - Luring and Magnetic. And both rod’s speciality field is our needed stats
- Bronze with higher Lure but lower Item chance
- Collector with higher Item chance but lower Lure
At first you can think that default fishing rod will be better, as it well rounded, but after getting into some math, that both forumers and myaltaccountsthis had done, we can say that Bronze rod is statisticly better for sunken catching.
And when applying enchantments on our rods and going with some statisctical graphing, we can surely say that’s the best rod.
What is the best Fishing Rod?
So, theoreticaly speaking, if you spen on average 30 seconds on getting fish baited, and 5 seconds to take it out and rethrow your bait (which is 90% of the time 86%) then Magnetic Bronze is the best.
And in only 10% of the time, Luring bronze is taking a lead, but due to how unlike that situation is, we can easly say following:
Statiscitly speaking, The Magnetic Bronze is the best sunken fishing rod, as it combines both Lure for pity and Item chance for luck.
Wow, Magnetic Collector sucks
Yeah, due to low lure, the speed of which you get a fish, even with higher item chance, is not enough of justification to even use it.
