Add a visible marking where buried treasure spots mentioned in a chart would be.
The locations of treasure charts are based on terrain parts so having a marking where the treasure would be should help make the spot stand out, similar to how “X marks the spot”. The marking should only be visible to the player with the chart as they are the one holding the chart, or to all party members should they be in one.
The appearance of the marker can also vary too, though they should be subtle. A few examples I have come with are a shrub, a dirt/sand/snow mound, and a stake in the ground, as shown in the screenshot (note that the screenshot was taken from Northwind and not AO)
Reason to add
Currently, treasure hunting is a gigantic pain in the ass, and it has been for a long time. Due to the size of size, shape, and terrain of an island, the treasure spot will almost never be in the spot that you would expect it to be, especially on larger islands like shell, ravenna, frostmill, wind-row, and new palo. Currently the only thing available that makes treasure hunting easier is a treasure chart compass, which is a third party website. This feature should at least make it easier to find buried treasure and the feature could be disabled for smaller islands like sandfall, much like how mount orthrys is blacklisted from receiving any buried treasure at all.
Would this feature make it too easy to complete charts? No, it shouldnt. Buried treasure spots are based on terrain part so the markers are still prone to the RNG nature of the spots. And again, the marking should be subtle and could be disabled on smaller islands.
just get good at reading, and if you dont theres legit like a ton of treasure chart calculators on the internet, probably even at github, if you cant get one with any of these methods, its a plain skill issue
It’s a fucking drain on time and effort, and I strongly dislike doing Treasure Charts because of them. I’d rather have them be easy and have people complain about that then tear my hair out trying to figure one out.
As a Bronze Sea Explorer, this would be insanely unfair to us, people who put work and effort into finding charts, just to see 7659423676724067428670867467 more BSE’s because of this being implemented, i have to disagree.
You mean to tell me that when getting bronze sea explorer the main issue was solving the treasure charts rather than getting them. Either you got some really bad treasure charts or got really lucky with what islands they were on
I mean, look, he said that it would be on bigger islands, so the ones I spent most time on, and it would become too ez. If you use chest grinding methods you shouldn’t have trouble finding a chart to a small island.
i prefer if there was more hint like our character telling us we are getting closer/further away from the treasures rather than straight up telling us where they are tbh
dont get me wrong, i fcking hate them but i dont want to be too easy either
did you uhhh read the suggestion?
he meant for only BIG islands like Shell, Ravenna, Frostmill, Wind-row, and New Palo
and you’re telling me that people are able to find islands without looking at the chart?
it’s a game?
i get your points that it’s not realistic again its a ROBLOX game
think about “realistic” shooters they have unrealistic parts too because it’s a game
that gatekeeping…
no, really that is just called gatekeeping most players don’t look/use game media/guides MOST players DON’T KNOW HOW IT WORKS as you do
again it’s a skill issue in the same way as if every enemy 1 shots you mean yea just EVOID the attack if you die skill issue think how that sounds
what I’m i doing your not going to change your mind you think if I been having fun it’s fine
the chart is to give a general location of the treasure where the marking is to give the exact one. and besides, would you really want to spend 20 minutes digging at one location only to find out it was at a completely different spot?
Arcane Odyssey Treasure Chart (myaltaccountsthis.github.io) this is the one that i use and is the only one i can find. unless you know of any others besides this one, im gonna assume that what you said there isnt true. also, the average player shouldnt rely on a 3rd party website just to find buried treasure
i dont think this feature would make charts too easy. theyre still subjected to the randomness of buried treasure spots compared to having say, a riddle with one set solution. also, the islands that i mentioned have varying terrain heights so usually you wont be able to see them from a mile away
