Right now, awakenings that include getting a new magic for fighting style, at least in my opinion, have a vibe like: “ok, nice, there’s another magic/fs that I can’t have rare spells/techniques on :[”
To fix this, I had an idea for a great alternative.
The alternative:
instead of giving the player two tools (one for each magic/fighting style), give them one magic/fighting style. It would have the vfx and sfx of both magics/fighting styles. If one combines fighting styles such as sailor style and thermo fist, they would have both bars. If they combine two magics, the magic circle would be the first magic with a smaller one in front of it that would be the second.
Damage algorithm:
Any moves used would take half the damage of each magic/fs and add them, as well as the status effect. It would take the highest stat of the magic/fs (destruction, power, speed) and combine them for the attack.
Example (light and ice):
(it would have the speed of light and the size of ice. It would blind the opponent and freeze them if they are soaked)
More Notes:
Buffing and Nerfing would be applied accordingly to prevent metas (yeah, i’m looking at you, ash+fire mages)
Charging magic/fs would also change
As I said last suggestion, VOTE IF YOU WANT THIS IN GAME, NOT IF IT’S GOOD OR NOT thanks : )
I’m sure this won’t create an absolute meta of people using 3 magics that each has a highest stat of all magics while all magics that do not go into extremes get forgotten!
Seriously, light, metal, explosion/earth, fucking unavoidable, everyone will be jumping on that train. Meanwhile stuff like sand, snow, wood, glass, water, fire, poison, wind, shadow and ash users that are already pretty rare will become an extinct species.
The last time someone cooked this bad, the town of Pripyat had to be evacuated. Never cook again.
While this would be cool, it would be so incredibly broken or ass no matter what. With how balancing currently goes, it would be either 1: broken because of meta builds 2: ass because of slightly off meta builds.
okay, but have you considered switching acid for light?
imagine casting a metal-light pulsar that goes at mach fuck and obliterates something the size of iecheros
