Transformation

Here’s another crusade i’m embarking on.

For starters, this is something i kinda suggested on vetex’ twitter waaay before the greate revamp released. Of course no one paid no mind and i eventually forgot, but i got reminded by another post today

Context

Aura type spell and technique are cool. They’re fire in concept, being a sudden surge of power, and the visual effects on it are good. I’m not complaining on that regard.
I just feel it could be more

Idea

Simply put, the aura spell should have an option where you can recustomize your character.

When you click it, first it would prompt you to the character creater, so you could change the hair, base clothes, face, eye and hair color.

On color selection for both hair and eye, you would have a “magic” option, which would be a glowing material of your magic’s color. (This would not be available for fighting style tho)

For skin color, more unrealistic colors would also be available to really hammer down the idea of a transformation.

Then, it would open a “Aura Vanity” tab. It would be like opening your inventory, with empty armor and accessory slots. You can then pick, from the items your have, the visual of your aura transformation.

Fighting style could maybe even have a beastification option where you display animal/monster characteristics since it is kind of a theme with FS to have creature-like inspirations iirc.

Customization this would bring

  • Grow wings when using aura (by using the wing accessories)

  • Summon a set of armor (by using any set of armor really

  • Make your hair grow (by picking a longer hair type)

  • Rip off your shit (using shirtless or open shirt type clothes).

  • Grow horns… Probably… Now i realize we don’t have horns. We should.

  • Enchant your clothes (by going from an armo/robe to their arcanium counterpart)

  • Putting on a helmet or morphing into an arcsphere

These are just some ideas i could think from the top of my head to prove how cool you could make this look

Reason to add/change

  • Vetex seems to be open for more customization options, seeing how he’s adding new armor sets, as well as giving us the option to toggle arms as well.

  • This is technically already possible, although manual. No new assets are required but a new system would be set in place to make the transformation automatic thus viable in combat

  • this adds another layer to customization. In turn, this can make less desireable armors, accessories and modifiers be worthy again

  • this will make mode skills feel more powerful/worth it without actually making them stronger. Reason being that full blown transformations give off more of an impression that just aura (which would also be kept).

Overall this is just a visual revamp of aura to make it more engaging and unique because the current form is rather bland… Also, for god’s sake, if this is added, please make it base aura behavior!! Don’t lock it behind pure magic/strength builds, no one would find it fun.

tl;dr more aura effects instead of the regular auras

@spicytuna

Me aboutta focus my fighting skills (I’m gonna become a black man)

Also it should continue to have the outfit changes even after the aura is over, and stay that way until you reload your outfit.

Pretty much, but if i write that in the post it will be shut down for being insufficient

Could happen, yeah lol

Go shadow mage and literally become a shadow

Aura and Focus aren’t going to be full on alterations.
This is better saved for future Rare+ Aura/Focus spell variants (probably not even rare, but lost+ tier only).

“Why won’t you die!?”
“Iron leg training son! It hardens my body to handle physical trauma!”
Punch.mp3
“Hehehe. What did I just say?”

I mean, sure, but you’re shutting down a feature for a hypothetical, not confirmed, variation of a base spell that would probably be locked to pure builds. What’s the fun in that?

Also, the amount of memory leaks that having a pseudo vanity slot tied to a non base skill would entail is enough of a reason to not make it

Think with me, you customize your entire character appearance for a skill that, if you forget, you can’t create again. This is data stored that wouldn’t be voided properly leading to more headache. With the base aura you can at least delete and remake it at will

I agree with Crusade on the subject of your suggestion. Certain alterations to aura fit the Vetex’s idea of transformation spells and the lost/ancient versions of those two. Regardless, it’d be cool to think about different visual representations for fighting styles, magics, and mode types upon casting. For example, wind mages’ mode spirals their wind magic around the user.

i can probably see a few issues with this specific customization(upper female torso probably)
either way the one about summoning armor kind of gives me a spinoff for that
instead of summoning armor, why not create one out of magic? calvus already does so with an aether crown in phase 2

Hypothetical or not, I don’t think Vetex would do this for a basic spell anyways. It makes no sense in terms of the game, except, maybe for the Ultimate Art. Although you’d be lucky if the Ultimate Art gives us glowing hair like Calvus.

Either way, the idea from my perspective is like this.
Your idea:

  1. Requires Vetex to create a new character customization for Aura/Focus. Admittedly, it’d still use the basic Character Customization menu, but it’d need to be modified.
  2. Removes the potential unique Aura/Focus spell routes down the line (eg. Transformation spell which was planned before being Archived into a private Trello)
  3. Is still subject to Memory Leaks (nearly everything is if the data used for it isn’t cleared)

The simpler idea to me being:

  1. Basic Options with the higher tier spell/technique; leaving this as something better suited to have it (I’ll explain later)
  2. Uses the base system for Spell/Technique creation
  3. Still subject to Memory Leaks (again, nearly everything is, even Thermo had a memory leak)

Vetex is going to lock things behind certain classes anyways, so you need to get used to that. Especially since they thought it’d be a good idea to lower the planned level cap to level 600 instead of 1000.

Also, when I say something like Transformation should have it, and not Aura/Focus, I mean it like this. As the most basic tier stuff we can use, they aren’t nearly complex enough for these kinds of things. You’re better off asking for the Ultimate Art to give you glowing stuff like Elius or Calvus alongside the accompanying magic circles too.

For example, imagine a Transformation spell (Lost tier), and forming actual wings let’s you T Jump mid air, and/or gives you an extra dodge reflex/air movement.

Knights gonna be real sad with this one.

imagine if you could have tails(ie; water shark tail, acid slug tail, fire/ash(if you buy a gamepass to combine 2 auras) 2 fox tails) and animal ears !! wouldn’t that be so epic?

Sorry i just dont follow your logic.
Vetex will do whatever he wants with his game, that’s the only thing when know for sure.

I’m here suggesting something that is mostly reutilizing assets to make a roleplay aspect more interesting since this is an rpg to begin with.

I dont feel how most of the class locking makes sense beyond an arbitrary lore but that’s besides the point.

But i believe adding a whole new spell for mage only, that is effectively “aura, but more cosmetic” is not any better either.

Like, the interactive wing thing you suggested sounds cool until you realize hover is a confirmed lost spell that pretty much invalidates that.

In the end the only thing i ever cared about in this game is how my character look anyways…

Im not saying you should be able to rip off your shirt, just pointing out some customizations you can kinda already achieve with the armor options in game

it should have been me.

That will probably be the visual effect of another spell later on, that’s why again, i’m not syaing you’ll literally summon armor, just that it will display whatever armor you selected. That’s just flavor text

Apparently AA magics had associated creatures
Kraken for Shadow, Dragon for Water, etc.
I suddenly really want Acid to be giant slug.

it just makes sense !! if vetex ever considers more magic based/mutated/polluted creatures or raid bosses like poison jaws, my money would be on acidslug, fire/ash fox, metal/earth/crystal armadillo
