i thought about this for a while.

how to place them: you have to place down a guard placement for like 1000 galleons or so, itll work like how castaways work at shops, except they will go to guard placements, and stand there and defend

guard scaling(reworked based on feedback : guards will now instead have different types of guards, some being more unique and strategic

mercenary placement : 100 cost, will just be castaways with old weapons

soldier placement : 500 galleons cost, will get a normal type wepaon and a shirt armor piece and pants armor piece

elite soldier placement : 1000 cost, will get a normal type weapon with one ability of that weapon unlocked they will have shirt and pants armor pieces as well as an accessory

general placement : 30,000 cost, they will have a shirt and pants armor piece as well as 2 accessories, and will have a good weapon(like ravenna great sword) and 3 of the abilities unlocked, you can only place one general, they will have 2000 health and will be able to block and parry attacks sometimes, basically just a weaker boss, and you can still use grabs on them tho

watch tower : 2000 cost, you will place a tower, soldier level guards will go in the tower and will automatically be set to have any ranged weapon, they will get much higher view range, but wont leave the tower unless its destroyed, any other guards within a certain radius of the tower will also get buffed sight range

(More guard type ideas will be appreaciated, just make sure they are unique and cool or whatever)

reasoning: i just feel like my base is so undefended when im not there, plus it seems cool

extra: extra is just stuff i didnt already say, guards will only attack non clan members and non party members, if someones in your party or in your clan, guard wont attack them obviously, there will e a limit of 30 guards your allowed to place down, and you can place multiple near each other. you can also talk to the guards, they will have randomized dialogues based on random variables like time of day, or how close an enemy boat may be, how long its been since the last attack, and what rank guard they are, some of these variables will interact with eachother, but i feel like being able to talk to the guards would be nice considering how lonely your clan island is. thats all, this is kinda a lot :confused:

Buff the superior guards to centurion level and make it so there are different stations that cost different amounts of drachmae and infamy requirements.

Ex: Soldier station : lvl 10, costs 150 drachmae and requires 100 infamy to place.

Elite soldier station : lvl 50, costs 500 drachmae and requires 25,000 infamy to place.

General station : lvl 100, costs 1000 drachmae and requires 200,000 infamy to place

Tamed monstrous atlantean : lvl 300, Have to capture a monstrous atlantean and bring it back to your base, requires 10 mil infamy to place

et cetera

Anyways, bringing castaways for all of the soldiers is gonna be such a pain.

i feel like if they were at centurion level, itd be WAY to hard to raid a base with a just a couple units, then again, they are adding that one crew feature later, but i do like your concept of multiple different guard types, thats actually pretty cool, but if there were separate elite soldiers i think the only the elite ones should be at centurion level

I have thought about this myself and do think that guards would be great for clan building. However, I do not agree at all with guards getting better based on clan infamy, as this gives stronger clans an unfair advantage, making the rich only richer. Instead it should depend on the island I think, so that some islands have value in having strong guards even if the income isn’t the best. Would add more nuance without giving anyone unfair advantages. I say it’s unfair because ranking up as a newer PVP clan especially post-full release is already hard without being crushed by 30 guards all twice your level. Speaking of, the number of guards should also depend on the island and never be 30 because Jesus that’s more guards than are in Ravenna I think, people’s PCs would start exploding. Other than that I have to dock a star for you refusing to capitalize anything. Otherwise good idea, still have my vote.

Yeah, but I dare say 100 galleons is way too cheap, it’d probably be better if it was closer to 10k galleons

10k for ONE guard is kinda a lot

Well I don’t remember the prices exactly but I’m pretty some of the defenses, even at lower tiers, cost way more.
Besides, once you have like all the wheat farms and sugarcanes set up, you can easily get more than 10k every 20 mins from what I recall.

yeah but the normal guards only scale to slightly weaker than legionnaire which are really easy to kill, and the main thing comes in how long its gonna take you to find enough castaways to fill all your guard positions, plus these npcs can actually die, and its gonna take a bit for them to respawn, giving whatever enemy easily the chance to destroy stuff, and plus, i said theres a place limit of 30

are you forgetting that you get 22k from a full harvest on cassia bay

you can only place down 30, so having anymore than 3000 doesnt change anything, although i think ill bring the price up to 1000 actually

imo 3000 or even 30k is way too less for 30 guards, even if they’re not very powerful.
Besides iirc 30 legionnaires would be pretty hard to fight against for a single person

i included that they have to be spread out, so you can just place 30 units at the only entrance to youyr base, plus thats 30 units to have to spread all across an island

If it’s 30 units for something like limestone, whispering isles, or even blackreach, it’s probably plenty enough to stop a single person in most cases.

theres not a guarantee your gonna be able to place all 30 units on an island without expanding it, if its too small, also you can just sugarcoat high size moves

Well yeah that number could be adjusted rather a lot for each island. Like for limestone iirc as it is imo we should have a max of 5 or 6. If it was more than that, they’d practically swarm the attacker.
Price-wise though, I still think it should be atleast 10k per guard, which isn’t that much considering other prices.

imo a guard would be quite a bit better than a single mortar or higher tier cannon, but to each their own I suppose
