Cloud's Beginning Guide to fleets and tips

So whats the best method?
Criminal sinking every ship on sight while having 3 recover 1 patrol/plunder?

That’s the best method to make your fleet size bigger with minimum costs.

If you are actively tryna unlock research then you need to level up tasks.

For active grinding fleet level while growing fleet size go for 2 recover, 1 trading/exploring and one plunder/patrol which will grow while giving you galleons.

If you do fishing or harvest then it won’t give you back galleons so you can do the other two first so you stockpile a bunch of money.

If you want to stop growing fleet (which atm isn’t THAT effective unless you really wanna unlock the task levels quickly) then go for 2 recover and 2 tasks. Just make sure to constantly fund their supplies so they don’t run out.

If you wanna mega active this then you can swap a plunder/patrol on when you have no inactive supporters and you can swap a plunder on when all your supporters have ships.

(essentially patrol/plunder when you need supplies and more supporters and alternate that when or when you don’t need it)

Just remember that trading and exploring gives back a lot of galleons, harvest and Fishing DONT give galleons. Plunder/patrol gives a little galleons.

ask me again if you didn’t understand a part cuz it’s wall text 1.5

Basicly just switching between exploring/trading and plunder/patrol depending on resources needed (switch at below 50%)
And sink ships in mean time…

Is it even worth going 2 patrol 2 recovery, growing fleet to like 1-8k and only then doing tasks?

Task XP seems to scale slightly with the size of your fleet, so there’s a case to be made for just growing to like 6k on nothing but Plunder before you start doing tasks - it’s not like Plunder is a bad task.

It kinda depends on if you want the biggest returns, or just want to get Fleet Raven ASAP. The sooner you stop using all your strength on Plundering, the sooner you get the Fleet Raven, but the fastest way to scale the actual yields of your fleet is to just get followers as fast as possible.

Pretty sure it will be annoying if you do it that way cuz you need to keep changing stuff, Assuming your doing fleet along with the other full release activities it’s just better to have it on 3 recover and 1 patrol while you are doing the other stuff.

However, yes you can do 2 patrol and 2 recovery then swap one patrol to recovery and infinitely combo that for a more effective supporter gain. Good if you only want to do fleet and ship hunting. (can add with charts too)

Thou ATP it goes into the intermediate phase/skill level where you really need a good brig and stuff to move around easily.

I suppose it depends on how you like to play it, which sea you are in and other factors like what you are grinding.

I’ve seen a guy with 7k fleet members and for all I know instead of grinding tasks he exlusively only grinded members the whole time to make a Big fleet instead of averaging it.

HOWEVER, This worked for him cuz he has ALOT OF TIME to play the game, Assuming you play for an hour a day you wouldn’t get anything meaningful from fleets for weeks but I suppose it depends on if you want immediate results or not.

Speaking of fleet. I wanted to check how true this is:

  • Command - Brigs
  • Vice Commane - Brigs
  • Fleet - Anything since its infinite

The idea is that, for example, lets use sailboat as measurment
1 caravel is 1.5 sailboat
1 ketch is 1.5 caravel
1 brig is 1.5 caravel
(durability wise)
So 1 brig is like 3.125 sailbaot. For limited storages liek command and vice commands its better to use brigs, but due to fleets have no limit, its somewhag useless. So anything gods.

If your goal isn’t to afk, brigs, and to an extent ketches, are a wate of resources

Actively repairing will allow you to run any ship type without any trouble, but you’ll grow much faster due to the decreased follower usage if you use sailboats and caravels

i’d like to add something here: if your main goal isn’t fleet growth and is instead just profit, i HIGHLY recommend using 2 trading/2 recover, as it can get uh… some insane gains

that said, the more you grow your fleet, the bigger the gains

you can also run more 3 traders 1 recover when you’re full on strength

these are from a 3.6k fleet

i just like running 2 traders 2 recover because its more or less self sufficient that way (i hate running around to tell my commanders what to do)

you should contribute to The Ancient Scrolls of Drachma, it’s a guide of guides that I compiled that anyone can edit (looking for contributors rn)

I might start doing that once my fleet gets maxed out (20 years)

TBH for the most part you probably don’t NEED to make the higher ships brigs BECAUSE if you forget to check fleets while it’s running then good chance they will ABANDON The ship so the ship being rekt or not Doesn’t matter AT ALL (FOR NOW, IDK IF CONQUEST WILL GET NERFED)

But yeah the best and future proof option is to at least make sure all your commander ships are brigs which can be easily done if you are just starting fleets cuz just have one ship on plunder so you have enough members to make 4 brigs and continue as usual.

They do cover more followers at a time and could tank more damage during conquest so it’s technically not useless cuz you WILL need a break from fleets at some point.

That being said it’s really not worth worrying about brigs for common fleet ships, they will probably be lost now and then and aren’t a big deal compared to your commander and possibly vice commander ships.

Heyyyy crimis, haven’t seen you in a while

hi charles :>

I can confirm 50% is the exact threshold for desertions, I accidentally let my fleet go below that for half a second and immediately got 3 desertions

If you can’t find your fleet captain then pause your fleet so you don’t lose ships

Thanks for confirming that, added it to the tips section.

Trading max level gives dark sea exotic scrolls, not sure what all you can get but you can get them here
