Yes but means of production are similar. They have similar land and can fish in similar waters so as far as minerals, food, water, and other needs they would have the same thing. They are small islands and donāt seem to offer much on their own. It is not only the climate but what they have access to that makes trading nonsensical. You trade because you need something but what do they need? Wood? They have their own trees. Fish? They fish in the same waters, so if they need fish likely the other people do too. The only thing I can reasonably see them trading is technology or technological advancements and even then do you need a bridge for that?
It just seems to me that two rivaling islands that likely wouldnāt need to trade that often having two bridges to connect them would just cause more issues than it would solutions. Boats and just swimming seem like fine alternatives for a short route and are easily fightable against should fighting arise for whatever reason.
Maybe Iām thinking too hard about two islands.
Remember that these islands are in the war seas, so they desperately trade in times of parrell and trouble.
Honestly, my only criticism would probably be the bridge, maybe have it be a lot less straightforward, like more akin to a system instead of two massive bridges, especially considering how uneven these two nations are diplomaticlly.

I truly wonder if you can read and I donāt think youāve watched Avatar even once.
NEVER is it said that they wanted to kill Aang before Sozinās comet being mentioned and they explicitly stated that they wanted to capture Aang and keep him alive so a new avatar isnāt born until they conquer the world. Only 6 months before Sozinās comet do they want to kill Aang because they donāt care about a 6 month old avatar.
