Proposal
Large Clay Jar [uncommon tool]
Description: A large placeable empty container that can be used to ferment fruits, mushrooms, and fish after a specific time [requires a seasoning/reagent]. (of course this can and will be changed)
(Would probably look like this)
Possible Quest
I was thinking if maybe a Food merchant (maybe in Samaria) would give the players a quest,
in that quest he will introduce the jar and provide one while explaining how it works. With the only goal is to ferment anything.
Mechanics
The player can place the jar on any flat surface, which allows the player to ferment food (10 pcs) and requires seasoning (or idk maybe call it something else like āfermenting agentā because seawater, rainwater and etc. is also possible maybe even volcanic ash and toxic seawater) and the quality of the fermented outcome, the longer it takes. The jar will be used up once the fermentation process is complete (unsure if this should be a reusable tool). The jar can then be picked up before or once the fermenting process has begun.
Examples: (can be longer if the dev wants)
The fermented food can then be used in several ways, either be eaten straight, cooked with other foods to enrich the flavor of the meal (prolongs the effects/ups the tier), or possibly be used to increase the potency of potions (since some fruits and mushrooms are reagents). Fermented fruits and mushrooms will give less hunger, but better effects when cooked. Similar to seasonings, when cooking fermented food, three fermented items causes the outcome of the meal to be ādisgustingā or ārottenā. These ādisgustingā meals cause a random debuff instead. Fermenting Golden fishes will only give you one golden scale (giving two is tempting, but thatās too broken). Fermented fish will last longer than a raw one (or cannot rot anymore [much better in my opinion]).
Of course the effects are to be finalized as I initially intended that the fermented food would only receive the effects of the seasoning, but since reagents are a possibility I am not entirely sure of the effects (feel free to recommend).
Reason to add
This feature will open so many things avenues to cooking, perhaps even chocolate from cacao fruits (god I hope so), seaweed wraps, jam, and ice cream/sorbet much more. But honestly, for someone who has little programming and developing experience, this is quite a pain to think about.
This is my first suggestion so feel free to critique it and say whatever you want good or bad I donāt mind (you can even talk shit about it).
