Proposal

A fighting style that relates a lot to hip hop and break dancing, but all styles of dance that can be adopted for combat.

Details/background on your proposal

IF you learn this from a trainer the quest would be to dance with a player. IF you learn from a scroll you would learn it (idk if this would be lost or not). after doing that you would get dancing (Breaking is a better name but would only refer to breakdancing) which does slightly more damage than boxing, but slightly less speed than boxing. the gimmick of Dancing would be a rhythm or groove meter that fills slowly over time or after doing certain actions. at max you would get a stronger block but at lower increments you have a weaker block. you gain groove meter by waiting, or by successfully hitting moves in a row (m1’s don’t count). the other gimmick is that when you parry you would dodge in rainbow text instead because of how elegant you are on your feet. at master level mastery you would get the option to counter attack after a parry/dodge by m1ing which would send you into a slight head spin than kick up (shaped like a cone). you lose the groove meter by getting hit and blocking hits.

Reason to add/change

There isn’t a big reason to add this other than variety. this to me seems like it could be really cool, or insanely dumb, but if something is adaptable for combat it makes sense. dance fighting is one of those. the dodge and counter attack may be a problem but it would reward parrying up close.

Sounds like a funny yet very cool idea. The idea of buffing blocking and parrying sounds like it’d make this fighting style too ping based though. I think a Crypt of the Necrodancer gimmick would be better, where you have to use your abilities to a rhythm of some sort. This would be pretty complicated though, a simpler mechanic would be to have this fighting style scale better with agility and maybe attack speed as well to open up different builds. Although maybe a block and dodge based fighting style is fine and I’m just malding. But I REALLY like the theming and idea, it sounds so funny yet interesting.

i was thinking about that rhythm thing but the problem is how to set a rhythm and cooldowns as well as cheesing it so that you gain it all back up after a few seconds, also thought of deltarune tp kinda thing where grazing attacks gained but again, may be to complicated

A grazing fighting style doesn’t sound too bad honestly. I’m just afraid that a block-based fighting style would be too annoying to fight and that the difference between a skilled player and an average played would be too great.

crash… but with jazz hands

Interesting idea but needs more expanding upon

cool concept, weirdly unrelated theme. i mean why is a dancing fighting style centered around blocking
still, i want both the concept of a block centered fighting style and the theme of a dancing fighting style, whatever if they are part of the same one or not. voting

well in dance you may be light on your feet, light enough we be great at dodging while also going fast due to musical practice, and stronger than boxing because no gloves but not meant for damage.

I feel like parrying would be better, no? you need rhythm to parry, i think
