I don’t want the same stuff 100 times in a row

In this magically polluted world where a snow storm can form directly next to the hottest part of Sameria, and yet the dark sea only has toxic rain with Wave & tornado spam with the occasional magic blasts being shot from the sky? It needs more variety in more than just the enemies and islands
(Bonus is the water poisoning becomes less of a problem if there are other events that disable/replace the rain for a bit)

Weather Types/Events

Blizzard

More intense winds than normal and intense snow replacing the rain while great glaciers begin to form in the dark sea, Tornadoes do not form, but due to the much stronger winds rushing above the water you vision is reduced and waves start to appear in larger sizes while your temperature also goes down

Waves can also deal larger amounts of damage due to ice being carried within the waves, or even ice forming within the waves as they travel, when these waves collapse they form platforms of ice & snow

If you are soaked by either taking a dip or being hit by water magic there is a chance you might get frozen for a moment (if you were swimming it will only apply once out of the water for a few seconds)

Heat Wave

The rain stops falling, and the water begins to evaporate in steam, further fueling the storm

It will hurt to enter the water or being close to the waters surface by the shore

Islands that would have had water on them will also have the same effects while the water pools slowly shrink, but they will start to refill when the weather event ends & the rain returns

Waves formed will be less frequent and smaller due to the water being evaporated as they attempt to form, and of coarse due to the heat, heat based magics/hazards would deal extra damage during this weather event.

Heat waves can cause mirages & hallucinations, which can allow you to see fake islands or the insanity shadow ppl without actually having insanity. If you don’t have one of those cold foods. None of the effects would really cover your vision, just adding visuals mostly in the distance that don’t actually exist.

Massive Hurricanes [Eyes Of The Storm]

Vast walls of wind may appear in the distance, they will tear your sails if you pass through them, but there will be a large area that can surround 1 large island or multiple small ones, all the waves that form that approach the wall of the storm are basically torn apart, allowing you to momentarily safe from the dark sea as the titanic winds shift the clouds away so you may see the sky at day or night.

You do sacrifice ship durability to enter/leave the safe zone however, and the hurricane can vanish after some time, allowing the storm to retake the still very messed up island(s) just are only really safe from other weather events temporarily

While inside the eye for one of the hurricanes, any insanity from the dark sea that was active will be gone, but will re-apply the moment the hurricane fades

Dust storms

These storms can only occur on a dark sea island of larger sizes with several gusts of wind blowing up dust across the entire island, limiting visibility while making it difficult to breath (basically drowning at half the speed & uses the same visual meter)

Would occur rarely, is also able to reduce the amount of the toxic rain that reaches you as it gets blocked by the dust and gusts of wind

You can prevent yourself from suffocating by going under ledges where the dust storm doesn’t get to do much, variants of this storm can also exist depending on the islands biome, like a minuture snow storm that also tries to suffocate you. Or even metal shards of a metal covered island causing a weak bleeding that can become severe after being exposed for a sufficient amount of time.

Dust storms are less intense/not as noticeable near the edges of the island, you will be able to breathe properly without suffocating on the dust.

I May add more stuff here later

Reason to add/change

Sure, the dark sea is chaotic and magically polluted
but we can also sea its affects in the war seas with a blizzard next to a hot desert, but your telling me the dark sea is just toxic rain lighting, strong winds and literally nothing else?

What prevents it from snowing in the dark sea? Or heat waves that put the water back up to rain down again for some realism

It would also give us more variety to the dark sea and different types of challenges that can temporarily replace the stuff we are already used to (such as the toxic rain temporaily not being a factor as the most annoying part of the DS)

Nothin much to say except that this is a really well made and reasoned suggestion, I really like the hurricane/eye of the storm one, it reminds me of a forum post where someone missed the glitched rainless dark sea and how it looked so this would be super cool i think.

Solid concepts and ideas. The Dark Sea is really lacking rn and part of that is it lacks the options to be the maelstrom of chaos it’s hyped up to be

Maybe a suggestion for a special interaction, what if you threw a warding supernova potion into the dark sea? Maybe it would temporarily make an area of the dark sea that is unafflicted by the rain, and you can be in it without getting water poisoning or having insanity. This effect only lasts as long as the potion though (Or maybe 5 minutes cause warding is typically stronger, and you need the same tier of warding for each insanity range beyond Insanity 0)

  1. Warding only blocks insanity, not the magically polluted weather
  1. Warding only lessens the effect unless it is stronger than the insanity level (Like warding 5 over insanity 4, if they were both level 4 the effect would only be lessened)

Wait, question, if you were to have warding 6 and went into the voidzone could you theoretically survive? (One way to get it is using diatry’s armor and putting virtuous on it)

Theoretically, can also do the same thing with theurgist gear

but you cannot survive in I5 at all, Insanity 5 just ignores all warding levels/doesn’t get reduced since you are not meant to go any further than the epicenter or you basically fell into a trap (Akursus keep I5 secret)
