Explanation: Right now the dark sea is a chaotic mess and I can barely tell what’s going on in there, but I have noticed some things that make exploring it super inconvenient in an annoying way rather than a challenging way.
First and foremost: Clearstones and similarly vital potion ingredients for exploring the dark sea should generate in the dark sea aswell as where they currently generate.
I was really hoping that I’d only have to collect enough clearstones to get started and then be able to manage my supply by finding them while exploring instead of needing to go back to mount orthys and spend hours breaking rocks and waiting for rocks to regenerate.
Secondly: Events with benefits should occur more often and events without benefits should
occur less often.
I can go 20 minutes without seeing a single thing that has a sealed chest reward attached to it but I can’t go 30 seconds without seeing two large waves collide or a tornado.
Last night me and 2 friends sailed for a full hour in the second range and we left with 6 sealed chests to split between us, I’m sorry but that wasn’t even vaguely worth it for 2 chests.
I thought this was supposed to be a group thing.
Thirdly: Some events need better visual indicators to warn players.
For example, red lightning, while it apparently has an audio indicator, anybody who has played in the dark sea already knows that every sound is already drowned out in a cacophony of similar weather noises so that’s absolutely useless.
I don’t know how you’ve heard it but you’re the only person who has said anything at all about it having an audio indicator.
Everybody else I see talking about the red lightning has pretty much the same complaint as I do, that the game basically says “fuck you” and you die or take loads of damage.
random lighting also just have no counter play no im not talking about red (while still bull but it has something) im talking about blue lighting it hit m lotal of 5 times so far
2 of them times taking a limb with it
Imo they also really need the reduce the spawn rate of giant white eyes, at least in the first, non-insanity range, and/or reduce the distance they chase you for.
Yesterday I was doing it with friends, and not even 5 minutes after entering the dark sea we had 5 fucking giant white eyes on our tail and they chased us all the way to an island and basically camped near it. In addition, if a white eyes is chasing you then it basically makes it impossible to loot shipwrecks because stopping your ship and leaving the safety of it when there’s an overgrown magical shark on your tail that one-shots you with it’s bite and is capable of knocking you into the water is far too risky for the meagre rewards most shipwrecks give you.
Hell they literally CHASE YOU OUT IN TO THE BRONZE SEA WELL AFTER YOU LEAVE THE DARK SEA.
speaking OF those shipwrecks, wouldn’t it be cool if we could find cargo crates like the ones we can buy at islands on those that we could use for repairs OR sell for way more galleons than normal?
Yeah we need lost cargo for the Dark sea to give you an option to repair your ship without having to spend galleons or use a criminal friend to stock up on a bunch of cargo
Absolutely agree lightning needs to be tweaked or have a warning, spent 1 hour but got hit with lightning and died when i was heading back and this happened on all 3 expeditions
Honestly I haven’t been to impressed by the loot in the dark seas so far (probably just unlucky, but the money is a bit lacking). Most of it comes from the dark sealed chests, but while you are in the dark seas foraging doesn’t give many new things (or make the old things more common).
I have no opinion on the second part of the statement so far, however I do think events with benefits should be more often. The dark seas are the replayable part of the game so you shouldn’t have to do so much boring sailing just to find something interesting (too much filler basically). Although you seem to be unlucky with the example given; I usually come out with around 10+ chests after a <40 minute session in the 1 insanity layer.
The lack of indication for any threats in the dark sea is quite annoying, especially since my lower framerate makes it take longer to turn and react. And it makes thunder and waves spawning on me feel a lot less fair (at least the latter hardly does any damage).
the choas in dark sea makes sense, i just want the tall mountains to be worth looting im not going to spend 30 minutes climbing up and down a mountain for 2 chest, vetex should make it so we can spawn a crew mate that takes it to the ship and make the tall mountains spawn 5-6 sealed chest so they’re worth climbing.
