Lol I only have a laptop so it’s easy for me

i had a gaming laptop before but it takes on fire if i open 2 chrome tabs, i only use it for class now

i dont game on it anymore since i bought a pc that can run basically anything at good enough graphics for me

if you plan to mostly use a computer for gaming, you should not even be considering purchasing a laptop. those things will die out extremely fast because they cram extremely hot components together in a tight space. To get around this, most manufacturers will use smaller, weaker versions of desktop parts called “mobile variations“, which aren’t as good.

you’ll be paying (in 99% of cases) more money for a product that isn’t as good and will last for half the time as a desktop.

it matters MASSIVELY

i have a laptop because ease of access and use

I mostly use computers for playing games, and I’d rather die than use a laptop for that. Sure, with a desktop, I have to buy the mouse and keyboard separately, but it’ll be a cold day in hell if those two things aren’t compatible with your build. With laptops, you have to use a built-in keyboard that you can’t adjust the angles of, and you’re meant to use the mousepad instead of an actual mouse.

Mousepads are like Data Design Interactive games; they’re just abysmal. Unreliable right-clicking, a tap with just a bit too much force is considered a click, and a limited range of movement makes them a downgrade in every way; the portability does NOT make up for it. Sure, you can buy a third-party mouse, but then that gets in the way of that exact portability, which is also the main reason for people to use Laptops over Desktops.

tl;dr I hate laptops.

gaming laptops are possibly one of the biggest wastes of money you can get. laptops are good if you’re doing something lightweight and just need something portable. for almost any other use case? just get a desktop, it’s cheaper, better, and will last much longer

Desktops are better because I don’t see the point of playing games when you aren’t at home. If you are out somewhere, maybe engage in what you’re meant to be doing rather than playing roblox. Gaming is a home activity, and desktops perform much better overall

If you prefer mobility and the ease of using it in multiple places, get a laptop. If you plan on staying in one spot but want to play some of the higher quality games without much trouble, get a desktop.

I personally prefer laptops because I’ve;

  1. Grown up with them
  2. Move around the house a lot (so I don’t end up bothering anybody)
  3. Don’t play games that bursts your PC

I just remembered, aren’t gaming laptops extremely big bulky? Kinda defeats the purpose of a portable device.

I have a gaming laptop, and it works quite well. Also, I connected it to a desktop screen so yea

idk about other gaming laptops but mine had like 30 min of battery life on a good day and ran everything at 30 fps as soon as it wasnt plugged.

i feel like nowadays you could just stream your desktop to pretty much any device you want if you want to play elsewhere, and atp any regular laptop works fine for streaming (or for most games i’d play on the go). its not like youll usually be playing some hardcore frame perfect competitive game if you’re playing on the go, usually.

…or just get a damn steam deck

It’s because laptops as a concept were supposed to be small and compact. High end desktops are very large and bulky. In order to make a high end laptop, you have to make sacrifices, usually by cutting down the size of components and using a shitty battery

Instead of cooling anything (because there’s no space), the laptop just throttles and slows
