I haven’t seen anybody discussing about the change that’s coming in March. People in the discord don’t seem to care at all about it. And I’m here questioning if i can find a different alternative. The devs don’t seem bothered by it at all so idk 🤷♀
you got a source to back that up?
Go search it on online
that’s not how providing a source works
and all I’ve seen is that it only requires your face/id once (still bad) and then you can just permanently go into age restricted servers, but everything else still works the same as before
probably got it from someone who got it from someone who did make it the fuck up
I think this might be a bit more of a UK thing which is unfortunate
I’ve been following age verification for a bit now and I do know the U.S. has a bit of this however the UK and Australia is where this has been most prevalent and frequent. Also “Adult content” what type of stuff on discord, like will server owners have to do some kind of verification themselves to prove its not adult? Could mean a lot of different things especially when the UK as a country finds the most minute thing to be offensive (the government not the people)
yeah this doesn’t say anything about having to verify your age every time you open the app
this is just to access nsfw content on discord
frankly this is the most extensive use of age verification that I can get behind (using it to stop minors from getting into that life-ruining shit)
I do not like the precedent that age verification laws set, but at least for this case, there is a clear reason for its existence
Honestly better you look it up yourself![]()
yeah exactly, however the UK and Australian government are pretty draconian when it comes to anything, they could consider the most mild violence to be NSFW. Don’t get me wrong actual proper hard NSFW content shouldn’t be on discord but with how bad the implementation of the online safety act is, making it so that you can’t even access certain pages even relating to a mildly violent or controversial topic like assault, which could even include help pages. It all sounds good in theory however when you realize how draconian the Australian and UK governments are with content you start to realize why this might get worse
I hate when actually good thing was abused by few idiots and literally create problems for millions![]()
if you’re making a claim like what the poster is doing, you need to provide a source to back the claim up
This doesn’t affect me in the slightest, but bad parenting shouldn’t ever be used to encourage mass surveillance. Think of all of the ways in which this can be bypassed by youth, then of the other ways in which governments and corporations can protect them—this isn’t the right one.
What this is is an appeal to empathy made by the same governments that won’t look into the Epstein files and despite it all, the selfish masses still fall for it.
I don’t want a future in which every website demands that I give them my Id as to prevent illegal activities that I won’t partake in anyway so that they can be leaked and used against me.
I don’t want a future in which those in power—the very same who break laws the most—can suppress freedom and opposition with more ease than ever.
I don’t want a mass surveillance firm to have my biometrics, and you shouldn’t either.
While it is fair for how they plan to use it (Excluding the ai part just being terrible at actually estimating correctly)
i still ain’t gonna give em my face or id (Didn’t they have a data leak only a few months ago?)
still doesn’t back up the claim having to provide your face/id every time you open the app
Did you watch the video dawg
I’mma bout to use the classic Gmod and stock video technique lol
Idgaf it’s illegal. Just because it’s illegal doesn’t always mean it’s immoral
yeah?
nowhere in the video did he mention that you’d need to do an age verification every time you open the app
and it was largely the same information as in the article posted a little earlier in the thread
