Well the magic doesn’t look bad by itself but there are others that do mostly the same and look more attractive and people likes drip.
It could get an status effect that synergies with heat based magics like enhancing the burning statuses and scattering around the map in pieces that can burn and maybe leave clouds of sawdust that turn into burning clouds with fire stuff (like other certain elemental clouds).
about wanting it to be more alive I think that would be a mutation, Forest magic maybe that could derive in Life later.
