Does the Dark Sea feel lacking or "boring" to you?

i don’t think the ds is lazily made nor that it is flawed, I believe it is simply far from finished like we got the house built but now we gotta wait for vetex to add the furniture typa shit
we should probably wait for the next big dark sea update after nimbus’ end to actually fully judge it, assuming we get new features and enemies on said update

There are many things planned for the dark sea as we can see in the dark sea trello card

this is kind of exclusive behavior to atlanteans

The sole fault I see with the Dark Sea is that if you get snatched on a wave with a shitty bounding box, then you’re practically done for, as for some reason you need a harming potion to escape waves.

Me personally, I felt that Dark Sea is incomplete, plus I wish any update to dark sea is kept secret. At best just say, so “Dark Sea got updated. We also fix some bug” then go on.

But how we gonna know what to do? People have been doing this since online games became a thing. We discover stuff together. One guy screw up lead to another guy success.

That can easily become an issue if it’s handled awfully.
There are some games called ‘wiki’ games, these are Terraria, Minecraft, etc.
You require the wiki to figure out basic content about the game, for it explains it poorly in its own way.
If it’s done awfully with the Dark Sea, you’ll have to search the Wiki for every little feature of the Dark Sea, making it a chore.

You should probably reset the poll because I think the amount of people that think the dark sea is “boring” is a LOT higher than the amount that think it’s “lazy”

There is no reason to go past insanity 1 unless for hecate or moly

Personally, I think there should be like basic quest to explain dark sea (partially). Like “Open 4 dark sealed chest” and “Obtain 3 atlantean items”. Basically first layer.

However, stuff like Sea Monster, Siren, and Atlantean should be something player discover themselves. I mean cat out of the bag already for now, but let say for next dark sea update we got idk, maybe walking funny bone or something, don’t put it into official patch notes. I mean it will make its way into Wiki eventually but until then, no info given. It gonna give sense of exploration and discovery where people goes “guys what the hell is this?” and we together as community decipher whatever stuff vetex put out for us.

There is already a quest, but it’s really annoyingly designed.
The quest goes as follows;

  • You get it from Enzior at level 125; he requests 15 Black Shards found randomly in the dark sea.
  • Sure, a fetch quest, meek, but it’s whatever.
  • Reminder, this is likely the player’s first time in the Dark Sea
  • They search around for the black shards, only to find out approximately thirty minutes later that they are nearly invisible specks on the ground that barely glint, and oh wait, their ship is now gone because they didn’t know the Dark Sea was THIS damaging.

I really don’t understand why they had to incorporate a classical RPG fetch quest like those people make skits about. It ticks off all of the ‘this isn’t a bad quest, just outright annoying.’.

To respond to the rest of your message, sure, the enemies should for sure be something the player discovers, that has always been the case and continues to be so with the ‘defeat to unlock’ in the boss tab.

the concept is cool but idk if there is any way to make it much more less painful and annoying without damaging its whole concept
its mainly boring right now because its lacking content and for the past 2 years? there hasnt been any major new things to it
not only that but the weekly/daily quests + fleets make most dark sea exclusive items not that ‘exclusive’ anymore so the only reason you’d go nowadays is for epicenter, omen or hecate essence (Psychological torture)
so yeah its boring but it also feels like your brain is being pricked by 10 thousand needles at times (hecate hunting)

It was exciting at first but quickly lost atmosphere. Dark Sea just DOES NOT feel intense enough considering it’s an endless storm of magic energy.

I like Dark Sea, its random generation can be unteresting to explore, even though I did it a million times atp. What I will absolutely yap about rn is the fix to Dark Sea’s rain

So, yall know its constantly raining out there, with water poisoning and limited visibility. For weak devices, that wasn’t a thing, the rain didn’t load in unless you died on this server and respawned. It was good, since rain lags heavily, weak devices could at least have some advantage to their name. Dark Sea is actually quite beautiful without the rain, I loved just admiring views. And the best part - no water poisoning.

In FR, this got fixed, and the rain is guaranteed to appear. Why, Vetex? Out of all the bugs, this was chosen to be fixed? Taking away the only thing that kept me sane and interested during ds expeditions unless I am on an island?

With the newly-added animals and Athena pages, Dark Sea doesn’t feel lacking nor boring to me, but the rain fix is the thing I will not forgive.

Also, make giant krakens spawn in a way that I will at least have time to detect them with sensing before they jumpscare me. I pop sensing constantly while sailing in dark sea, but I never see those coming

yea they always just spawn right under when sailing, its rlly annoying

Something as harmful for your ship as a kraken, giant or not, should be something you choose to engage with, not something that pops out of nowhere onto you

Oh hello, acid waves and shadow tornadoes, how’s it going?

should i travel to far reaches for moly? its just that im turning orange (orange text)

Anything but actually making the game fun

I do the same thing everytime enter that place it takes a sec for things to show up

I feel more like we kind of done all that we can in the dark sea and don’t really have a reason to go into higher insanity tiers for now but there are plans to add more stuff so I think it’s just wait till we get more stuff such as dragons

Adding Dragons won’t solve the issue with the ‘boring’ Sea.
It’s a little feature that just adds a new enemy, it doesn’t fix what is at the basis flawed.

i think its too purple, make it bluer in the earlier parts
