anyway, about electron magic, i personally believe that access to magic could sort of cheat scientific discoveries in a lot of ways
for example, readily having control over lightning, a form of electricity, could greatly speed up research and knowledge on it. hydrogen could then be gathered through electrolysis using lightning magic on water, cathode ray rubes could easily be made with glass magic to perform experiments, and if you need any special wiring or something you can use metal magic. with all of this, it could be feasible that a group of scientists were able to perform jj thomsonâs cathode ray tube experiment much earlier than intended and discover the existence of electrons
So I might have agreed with you, except that elektron inspired the English word electricity, which would later be combined with ion to produce the English term electron. So while they share similarities, and elektron is an ancestor of electron they donât mean the same thing. Becuase, electron still needs the connection to ion, a concept not existing at the time of the Golden Age.

even makes a lot more sense now in this time period given that the word âatomicâ still just means ârelating to atomsâ and isnât directly about explosives
it wouldnât just deconstruct them, it would use what it took to fuel its own attacks, reusing the particles of what it took
shatter magic would consistently be very strong and destructive, while atomic magic would probably be inherently a bit weaker until it was able to capture something to use
I suppose, but if they had youâd think theyâd find a way to automate these systems. Which would lead to more advanced metallurgy and industry than we see evidence off in any of the seas. Granted The Fracturing may have wiped out a lot of it, but there should still be evidence in the Dark Sea, or in the surviving culture. Yet thereâs not, so I donât think itâs likely.
The term ion that we use today came from the greek word ion, which is the present participle for the verb âieneiâ, translating to âgoâ.
We are told on the trello that electron magic leaves behind clouds of burning air, hence, could we take the absolutely egregious and mind-boggling stretch that they used the term ienei to depict the clouds coming and going when the magic is used, hence explaining the usage of ion?
the webcomic is noncanon, but trollus did discuss the magics with vetex and tech when making the mutation chart, so those at least i believe should be accurate
i donât think atomic magic has to inherently only absorb attacks weaker than you as well even though it only mentions it there, i donât see why it couldnât take some from attacks equal to your level as well. also, iâm not sure how aaâs clashing system worked, but if it was added in ao then i imagine atomic magic would have generally high clash rates, so it potentially even assimilate from attacks a bit stronger than you too
Apollo came down to humanity and blessed it with some prophecy weed so they saw 4,000 years into the future (because in the 3,000âs not only did humans not develop, they somehow went back to middle age technology), heard the term electron and weird physics shit and decided to replicate it onto the weird-ass nameless magic they had.
The magius underdevelopment still makes no fucking sense though, even if humanity was slowed down in progress by magic that slowing down wasnât shit seeing as they have almost the same tech in 1854. as our timeline does.
LIKE BRO THEY DIDNâT HAVE FUCKING GUNS THEY WERE USING MEDIVEAL WEAPONRY 1,000 YEARS INTO THE FUTURE FROM OUR TIMELINE THEY RECOVERED FROM THE FIRST MAGIC APOCALYPSE PRETTY FUCKING WELL YOUâD THINK THEYâD DO BETTER WITH A SECOND SMALLER ONE
The Peacekeeper actually just became The Lord Ruler (from Mistborn era one by Brandon Sanderson.) and suppressed technological advancement. The fact that the most advanced thing in Magius were tin cans makes the comparison surprisingly accurate.
Then fucking maybe not fucking throw the fucking game fucking 1,000 fucking years into the fucking future.
I hope I used up all spots for âfuckingâ.
Like he couldâve just said âThe year is 1984. and a big-ass nuke killed like half the population of Seven seas but itâs aight their progress has just been halted a bit and three huge superpowers split Magius and are constantly warring to keep citizens obediently opressed.â
