Yeah, your character’s age is determined by the hours spend on that profile. Every day in AO is 20 minutes long, and given that there are 365 days in a year, this means your character grows a “year” older every 121.6 hours. From what I heard on the Trello, later on story events may also influence your character’s age.
Do kinda wish it was the player’s choice, instead, though.
Yeah, that’s the forums. Or the internet in general, really. That said, it’s best to not really hyper-fixate over everything being on-topic as that never works. Dude may have just accidentally posted in the wrong thread, as the “what do you hate” and “what do you love” threads can look similar at a glance.
When Nimbus Sea comes out, we’ll hopefully have more to say on this. So far, all the update ideas (spare the balancing changes, but those are always divisive) look pretty good.
I think my fondest memory, aside from the story, is the feeling of exploration. It was great. I loved going into the cloudy spots on the map, seeing the name and basic description pop up for the first time, hearing the theme song for the first time, everything like that. Exploring those islands was just as good, if not better of a feeling. I feel like the Devs truly cooked with that aspect
I mean that’s similar to saying a Roblox game is better than another. I believe any game can be on par with AO if it’s really good in its niche category. Even tycoon games like Theme Park tycoon with immersive guests and you can build whatever you want is in the same level as Arcane Odyssey quality for me
Nimbus sea is coming out tomorrow. I won’t be reacting to or even seeing anything here, as to avoid spoilers. I’d also advise all here to stay off the forum for a few days to do the same.
Oh and uh, remember that the Nimbus sea will probably be flooded with level 125s of all kinds when the update releases. This includes PVP nerds. I’d honestly recommend avoiding Nimbus for a few days as to enjoy the experience without player interruption.
It’s refreshing to all the hot garbage on the platform. It’s like a true game in the sea of cash grab and lazy games.
It doesn’t have any pay to win game pass, no spinning system, no premium benefit.
The combat is also quite refreshing to the usual deepwoken-like and M1 based combat. Yeah it may be a little unbalanced most of the time but it’s still refreshing.
I truly love this game and hope for the best of it (if Roblox didn’t fuck up and cause another AA situation with AO)
Its eh, the 10-20 minutes of new story are alright, the new islands are cool if a little barren, I will say the cities in Sameria are way better than the ones in Ravenna, one of them really plays into the terrain and its pretty dope. There are a handful of lore tidbits both through the story and the handful of dialogue made for the npcs that are pretty interesting too imo.
The issue comes in once you realize that not a lot new things mechanically have been introduced, and once you’ve explored a little done some treasure charts you’re basically done.
Overall its just kinda ok, its something and at the very least the game has gotten some momentum now so new stuff should come much sooner.
