Questline
You can complete a neutral questline on the smaller sky island of Eos’s Refuge. It can be started by interacting with the Old Lady, who can be found by the edge of the said sky island.
The questline starts off with a short dialogue between you and the Old Lady, with her explaining that she and her husband have inhabited the ruined Eos’s Refuge because of them both being wanted criminals down in the Nimbus Sea waters.
The pair has been living in an abandoned mage tower, growing fruits and catching rainwater on the other, bigger remaining chunk of the once-massive sky island. However, the Old Lady states that recently, her husband has convinced the Old Lady to stay at the smaller sky island and wait for him to gather food alone because of “a slight inconvenience”, making her anxious of the hidden truth. The Old Lady asks for you to quietly investigate what her husband has been up to on the larger sky island of Eos’s Refuge.
After traversing to the said chunk of Eos’s Refuge using a Sky Ship provided to you by the Old Lady, you search the ruined town for Old Lady’s husband: only to be ambushed by a group of rogue Harpies. Despite trying to de-escalate the encounter, the creatures keep provoking you with attacks, cornering you to one of the steeper sides of the sky island. As you prepare to fight back, a figure steps out from inside one of the abandoned houses nearby, rushing over to assist you.
After killing all of the Harpies present, the man offers to heal your injuries in one of the village’s houses. He politely refuses to reveal his true name, presumably due to the shared notoriety with Old Lady. Being curious about what brought you up to the ruins of Eos’s Refuge, Old Gentleman questions you after your temporary rest.
Without seeking excuses, the man solemnly tells you that a while ago, a group of Harpies nested somewhere on Eos’s Refuge. The creatures began to chaotically speed up the thawing of the remaining sky islands with their aerial lifestyle, as well as attacking Old Gentleman. The man admits that he was wrong to keep the truth hidden from his wife, but was only trying to guarantee Old Lady’s safety and exclusion from combat. At last, Old Gentleman proposes that both of you return to her and explain the situation.
When both of you track back to Old Lady, Old Gentleman recites the same words to Old Lady, pleading for her to excuse his past behavior. He theorizes that thanks to you, most of the Harpies were killed, slowing down the inevitable fall of the remaining sky chunks and prolonging the temporary safety for the two.
When the couple realizes they have nothing valuable to offer back to you as a reward, Old Lady proposes to pass down the knowledge of a Fighting Style known as “Drift Fist” onto you.
Drift Fist
Drift Fist is a Fighting Style that focuses on constant movement and aerial mobility. The (theoretical) bar goes up whenever you’re moving. However, it will drain rapidly while you remain on the ground and will pause (and MAYBE increase) whenever you use a skill/anything that isn’t M1s. The nature of Drift Fist encourages the usage of range and skills with travel time as it’ll greatly extend the distance you can move, especially since it enhances mobility skills like Airstep and Greatjump (note: it does not attack super fast like Thermo Fist. More so, the power and range builds up the more the bar is active) The ‘nature’ behind Drift Fist is that it is a mix of acceleration and drawing in magic energy without forcing it through methods. At lower levels, it’s displayed as a sort of mist that is expelled around your limbs, though becomes condensed mist rings would circle around your feet and hands at high Mastery.
While having Drift Fist active, you are equipped with a small, compact glider on your back to help traversing mid-air. Even though it is mainly used for early practice of Drift Fist moves, most skilled Drift Fist users keep the glider on themselves anyways: sometimes customizing it with the other in-game glider ‘skins’.
(Apologies if the architecture isn’t very interesting, I’ve been on a hiatus from Roblox Studio for a while.)
Credits
As usual, this wouldn’t exist without the assets I keep getting from the Sea of Creation server (such as the harpy base rig by azur3m0on aka Pi and Bluemin’s AO Omega Face Pack). Drift Fist is a concept made by @AmpNArson. An ambient track for this island was composed by @AlarGuardian (you can find more of their stuff here).
Credits for the other assets go to, including but not limited to: Kierof, noah_spirit, and JTN. Oh, and thanks to everyone who reads these posts, including you, Xtremely. I’m glad you find them creative.
