How the fuck should moves work I’ve been brainstorming for ages and I have no idea what path to take.

Should projectile moves be like deepwoken (Aim straight in direction) or like the Arcane Series (Aim towards mouse). True stun exists, FYI, but game is not combo based.

Spells
  • Aim towards cursor
  • Aim in direction towards cursor (Not up or down)

Basically, The basic combat will be:

M1 - Normal attacks (3-5 m1’s of stun before knocking back depending on weapon)
M2 - Some kick thing that knocks the opponent further.

F - Block
F + M1 - Counter/Parry, using it causes a flash thing to happen and if you get hit during the flash you hit back and stun the opponent back.
F + M2 - Avium (Mana) Shield, Take 95% less damage from magic attacks but 10% more physical damage. Takes mana.

You can also press Q to get slightly Iframes and dodge towards a direction.

Magic attacks also consume Avium, which can be recharged by holding T.

Aim by HumanoidRootPart is usually better for a land bound combat system and aim with mouse is better for at least semi aerial combat (easily get high off the ground)

Then I’ll go by humanoid root part probably. I was debating on whether to introduce better mobility, but I don’t want people to go full on monkey mode lmao.

Best movement available is like you’re dash, not much verticality.

Im pretty sure i forgot about this thread. Didn’t forget about the game, though.

It has changed… Quite a bit. There’s combat now, blocking, a custom weapon system (It includes literally the normal sword and thats it cause im lazy to make the anims) that equips and unequips on E, a new region, a whole lot of shit, yea.

Oh yea it also deletes all accessories you have except for your hair.

Rewrote most of the shit before. My god was it ass (It’s still ass).

Im also stuck on trying to fix this really wack memory leak where the FPS completely dies after you reset.

I skimmed through the trello a bit and this game honestly sounds pretty cool.
Can see some inspiration from other Roblox games too

Cool idea, though im worried about how much you can parry.
is there like, certain unparryable attack ideas? Feel like not every attack should be parried

It’s not a parry system, per say. It has true m1’s that you can break out of with it after a certain amount(hence why it’s named counter) It also only works for m1’s.

Magic based attacks require you to mana shield (omg rog-) but leaves it open to m1s and physical attacks, etc.

Blocking physical attacks do, but also leaves you
Vulnerable to magic based attacks.

It’ll be changed when things continue though, no doubt

Going off on a hiatus on adding new content.

Im fixing all the shit code from before bro holy shit the dialogue system from:

SUCKED SO BAD.
(Everything else from the original post was already massively revamped)

Did you know that pile of shit had an entire different localscript AND GUI for each NPC??? Anyways it’s almost finished now just need the button text to actually appear. (It’s completely modular now and instead relies on the script referring to an preset database and matching it with the NPC)

So much shit has happened the weeks i didn’t update this post its not even funny
