For those who "quit" arcane odyssey (possible player feedback for vetex (?))

wtff??

reason i posted is because the bugged happened three times in one day, and i just gave up after the third lmao, sailing to i4 sucks and theres no quick way to get there, so you just gotta hope and pray you dont get bugged

these evil secret society factions are only really compelling when you’re given some information to work with and speculate on from there

when you dont get jack shit besides some vagueposting in dialog boxes, no one actually cares about them

“yeah they’re evil and they’re working towards a goal of unleashing this power” tells us basically nothing interesting
every evil secret society in fiction is doing the exact same thing or some mild variation of it

Really just comes down to infrequency of updates

And it sounded so much better back then, too…

Respectfully speaking this has got to be the least efficient way of solving the combat issue. I could see this being okay for NPCs, but I dislike how the stun is implemented in the first place.

What I’d prefer is a return to “zero”. Back to when M1s actually SEEMED TO SERVE A PURPOSE in the game outside of just being cosmetic flourishing. When was the last time you ever actually M1ed anything that wasn’t an NPC? I’d advocate for a universal downscaling. Dash distance should be cut by a 3rd. T-Jumps should be removed. The size of the average blast attack should at best = to a player’s character size. M1s should have more range, weight, and purpose in combat as a sort of off-hand opportunity tool.

I keep thinking about the words of a tester(?) from back then. Or was it Vetex himself who said it- that AO could work with an Elden-Ring type combat system? I would love to see it implemented. At this point, anything is better than nothing.

Also, I believe the game sounded SO much more lively in its early days. Maybe after actually playing it one would grow tired of hearing those sounds, but atleast then it sort of felt like there was some sort of variety, no?

Funnily enough, I personally think M1s should’ve never been added. They taint the early game’s design philosophy, and I also hate how the game sometimes causes you to relentlessly spam them whenever you equip a weapon.

Everything else I can see the argument for—especially the mobility reduction and attack size downscale—but a “generic attack” isn’t really needed in AO.

That might be because Vetex was using copyrighted songs at the time. We really didn’t have a choice on removing those.

actually real, that’s one of the only good things I see in Relics, they lack M1s entirely.

genuinely the most annoying bug, even worse from a standpoint where you know from an educatd guess on how a system works, because it sounds so easy to just… not retain M1s when unequipping or just forcefully disabling the previous M1 click state on equip.

What’s even worse is that the creator of the custom music AO now uses - Senterea - has left AO in its entirety, I can’t quite find the actual reason, but from what I can remember it was just from wanting to do something else away from AO.

I do wish we don’t have a tonal shift or a decrease in quality, music affects the experience so much more than people believe :folded_hands:

i gotta get better at my anger management cause jeez i just closed out this time no hesitation lmao

what if blocking attacks made you lose 20% of the attack’s original damage in stamina, and if you lose all stamina while blocking you get a 50% slow for 2 seconds, pauses stamina regen for 3 seconds and you take maybe 15% more damage for 3 seconds as well.

Maybe the most exhausting thing is having to remake builds every update due to balancing

im currently making an end all be all armor build that SHOULD be infinitely upgradable and become even more broken with updates to come, but if omen gear get a harsher power decrease or lost envoy gets nerfed im absolutely screwed

like if regen AS A WHOLE gets nerfed into the ground im all screwed, which is a possibility, but honestly? just do it anyways lmao

ive had so many builds just screwed over cause bteam was butthurt in elysiums and had to nuke my build in the process, it sucks but like, hopefully with QoL changes they will release bteam is inherently biased and they need to be dissolved to be replaced with community votes

all i can say though is yea, do it anyways, have fun with the process, and if you arent too exhausted try again, theres always time to try again

idk if anyones brung this up, but player feedback is reaaaaaally bad lately along with how tickets are dealt with. not even a few months ago i lost halloweds, a death amulet, deathcrowns, even a headless, but NONE of them got restored because of time recency. skill issue on my part, but heavily on THEIRS because i kept ticketing day after day but it was full and it had to do with tickets not being cleared. so thats probably another major catalyst for why i quit lmao

it was a skill issue on my part because of school getting in the way and not properly doing inventory, headless was lent to a friend and got lost in the abyss, so true i shouldve been on their asses about it, but at the same time ALOT of people lose items because of how laggy the trade system is

imo, if someone LIKE ME has video evidence AND SCREENSHOTS of lost data, it shouldnt be a whole entire one and done case like it was. i ticketed my lost seasonals first, they closed it, i ticketed my lost headless but because i just recently lost seasonals, they totally ignored it; aka not going through logs to check and just ultimately telling it to my face if i ticket again nothing will happen lmao

that isnt fair in the slightest, and it just leads to players being even more salty and displeased with arcane odyssey. if the game is in a bad state, and the mods behind it wont help you, is there really anything to stick around here for?

As a discord mod in vectord i dont know why they put time recency into regards when dealing with a restore ticket it should be restored no matter what

its probably just the factors of

  • during a time of traffic (i was unable to put a ticket in until 12 days later)
  • dealt with HIGHTIER seasonals including a headless
  • different mods handle things differently
  • and me having the audacity to make a ticket two months (ish, i dont remember cause i left it alone) after the data loss occurred

like i seriously cant hate on vetcord mods, they are trying to do their job, but me ticketing FOR HEADLESS was an unrelated data loss, only connected in the way that they were both from trades and both seasonals

that IS the reason why they didnt investigate further, because i made another ticket trying to get my headless restored after they denied the seasonals before it lol

For those who “kept playing” arcane odyssey (Possible Vetex glaze?)

the entirety of vetcord.

“how do we fix the game’s combat?”
“let’s remove all of the fun systems”
