Full Release Update Patch Notes (Discussion Thread)

LET'S FUCKING GOOOOOOOOOOO [general ...

I never doubted my boy vetex lore is peak confirmed

hecate shard is just a crackhead curse confirmed (not really but it lets you use a power you otherwise couldnt)

Do you mean giving people the ability to use magic? Cause that’s essence. Though if you mean mutating to unlock a new magic then yeah you’re right.

What’s the lore explanation for Lesser-Losts being weaker than Losts, but not when Iris gets Flare?

To be completely honest I thought it was already confirmed you could do that with hecate essence, but then I realized I could not remember where I read that so I had to go and ask Vetex to be safe.

I want a quest where you have to steal a wallet instead of finding one

Okay well first of all there is a range here, you can still get incredibly powerful with a base magic it just might be harder. Vetex has also confirmed in patreon chat that Iris was born with flare, a rare occurrence as mentioned in the lore doc, so she never had to go through the effort to mutate a magic to gain flare. Thus up until Frostmill it seems like she hadn’t really been putting it to use yet and getting better with it.

As for why lesser-losts are weaker than losts, I’m not entirely sure. I have a feeling though that it’s because they were always more in the tier of the 7 original base magics than the actual lost magics. It would explain why it’s been so much faster for them to be integrated into the base magics and have become about just as common for mages to be born with as the og 7, while lost magics have been much slower with only a few people being born with them so far. It’s entirely possible Prometheus didn’t give humanity the entirety of the base magics when he gave them the og 7. He could have just taken those 7 from the larger group of magics within that tier.

That’s just my theory though, could be wrong but I figured it made sense.

My happiness is immense, my day is saved and my dream has come true.

i think its gonna be within this circle here
(monos island is around the area of the smaller circle i think)

I’m imagining this.

It’s a weird sort of area to add. Just a bunch of rocks, presumably with stuff on them, that take up way too much space.

The Jaws is the same thing, but it’s only to lend atmosphere to its islands.

Huh, so if Hecate Shards can only create new magic types, how do you mutate into one that’s already been created? I know it depends on if there was someone in your bloodline who created that magic, but what does the process look like?

yeah i think its better to have stuff like this rather than just empty sea, it gives the area more personality and detail

I like it for worldbuilding’s sake

Regardless, it’ll still definitely going to be more detailed than any Second Sea wilderness island.

The Second Sea was barren for real :sob:

Third had the most interesting/detailed islands from my memory, but very few of them, for obvious reason.

just create a new magic type that already exists

wow, the balancecord is actually able to do that? honestly that impressive, everytime i go there its just a ecochamber where they mostly agree with the bteam

I think it partially depends on what you’re mutating. Like if you only had fire magic and used a hecate shard to mutate it you could just end up with an already existing fire magic mutation. If you managed to mutate your magic into grandpa’s lost on your own and then used a hecate shard it’d probably mutate it into an ancient although you might need more shards. I dunno if ancients are the limit and it just doesn’t work past that, if something else happens because you used it at the limit, or there’s some super duper uber magic after that. I’m not sure, but everything before that is my guess on what happens if you used a hecate shard despite having mutations in your bloodline.

Can’t you learn it? It’s not like it’s mind-locked anymore.

The lore doc says the mutation you get is based on your bloodline, so I think there is still a lock, just not in the form of minds.
