Full Release Update Patch Notes (Discussion Thread)

yeah i think its better to have stuff like this rather than just empty sea, it gives the area more personality and detail

I like it for worldbuildingā€™s sake

Regardless, itā€™ll still definitely going to be more detailed than any Second Sea wilderness island.

The Second Sea was barren for real :sob:

Third had the most interesting/detailed islands from my memory, but very few of them, for obvious reason.

just create a new magic type that already exists

wow, the balancecord is actually able to do that? honestly that impressive, everytime i go there its just a ecochamber where they mostly agree with the bteam

I think it partially depends on what youā€™re mutating. Like if you only had fire magic and used a hecate shard to mutate it you could just end up with an already existing fire magic mutation. If you managed to mutate your magic into grandpaā€™s lost on your own and then used a hecate shard itā€™d probably mutate it into an ancient although you might need more shards. I dunno if ancients are the limit and it just doesnā€™t work past that, if something else happens because you used it at the limit, or thereā€™s some super duper uber magic after that. Iā€™m not sure, but everything before that is my guess on what happens if you used a hecate shard despite having mutations in your bloodline.

Canā€™t you learn it? Itā€™s not like itā€™s mind-locked anymore.

The lore doc says the mutation you get is based on your bloodline, so I think there is still a lock, just not in the form of minds.

But didnā€™t that screenshot of what Vetex said explicitly say that using Hecate shards to unlock existing mutations was just a gameplay mechanic? The way he put it makes it seem like Hecate shards are canonically only used for creating new magics/mutations. But idk why heā€™d make that distinction, using them to unlock existing mutations like in the gameplay makes perfect sense in lore

man this lowkey just made me more confused on Hecate shards :sob:

Kinda glad Iā€™ve put off writing my AO series for so long. Awakenings and lost magic obtainment and the magic system as a whole have changed more times than I can count and itā€™s hard to keep track of whatā€™s canon. Iā€™m gonna keep waiting for this stuff to get set in stone so that I can actually make a plan for how these major events go down in my story.

I donā€™t think theyā€™re THAT close to Sameria

I also assume weā€™ll get more islands close to that area + maybe some lore in that area. Itā€™s possible that its a bordering area between an eastern sea like how othrys borders the bronze and nimbus sea

Considering that itā€™s called the ā€œEastern Reachesā€, and itā€™s ā€œbordering the Dark Seaā€, I think thatā€™s the edge.

nvm i forgor its only going into the dark sea

I still donā€™t think its THAAAT close to Sameria

I mean, considering that I drew about 1 Claw Island of space between them, I think thatā€™s generous for something that spans from Sameria to the Dark Sea.

make it so using the play dead emote makes bears not agro at you
