Full Release Update Patch Notes (Discussion Thread)

I dunno, Sailor’s lodge was a tavern that acted as sorta a hub for unique and interesting characters. If anything so far the Sun Serai seems to be the most like it, only main differences being that it’s part of Sameria and isn’t it’s own thing separated from any other island. Maybe Monos will actually be even more like Sailor’s lodge here, but I’m betting it’s more like Shell, or maybe Thorin’s if it had more people at it.

This is kinda neat

I’m guessing we’ll be able to go there either pre-chapter 8 or pre-chapter 6 and maybe after chapter 8 which is Skyhall.

I’m not the biggest fan of invisible walls, with the Fenrir I feel as though just massive mortar fire that would destroy any ship in like 20 seconds tops could’ve been used to keep the player away. However, in this situation it may have been something Vetex kinda just had to do to make things work so I’m not gonna complain about it until I actually know if it was actually necessary or not.

Someone could get 10 players to spam the silver repair hammer on a ship to tank it.
Instead they could make a giant whirlpool spawn underneath your boat until you turn back. For a lore reason you could just say it’s Poseidon trying to stop you from killing yourself or something. Just replace the “I shouldn’t go there” message with a blue You shouldn’t go there

I love the idea of Poseidon preventing you from doing stupid stuff instead of just “nah, I don’t wanna”

Poseidon’s spirit has already basically dissipated by this point iirc him talking to us in his temple and giving us that orb thing was like the last thing he could do. And the mortar fire can just be tooled to be guaranteed to blow up the ship at a certain point.

Lore explanation: Poseidon Orb will protect you from harm.

Doesn’t help with the Ravenna Castello being unenterable, so just lock the door to the throne room and eternal mines, I guess.

I don’t care about doors being unenterable via the current method, it’s just weird invisible walls I don’t like too much. Also honestly I’d rather the current thing over the orb thing.

just make it so one massive mortar volley instantly explodes the ship (and you) and theres a much smaller invisible wall as a final failsafe so you cant actually board it

Would solve people getting to it by ship, but that would still allow people to swim to it and then climb it. The invis wall is fine cuz of the text imo

Worst case a much smaller invisible wall right around the ship, or just have these mortar shots uniquely explode on the water and damage players

They should have machine gun attachments on the Fenrir that fire at players.

Snipers with muskets on deck that shoot you + the mortars thing

I think having the Fenrir not destroy your ship is the only real problem. I wouldn’t mind if I went to this area I was supposed to avoid during the span of a few chapters, and I didn’t get anything for gameplay, but the lack of destruction just feels lazy.

Actually, it wouldn’t even be that hard. Fort Talos has been doing it for a while. Just add something a bit heavier in terms of firepower.

maybe for the player swimming a blast of a fast ancient magic flies towards to them and deals 10k damage

Probably a blast from whatever curse user is on the ship, for the sake of consistency.

I think it should just be unclimbable though.

the big gangplank attatched to THE ISLAND, which you can leap onto easily:

If you’re that close to an inaccessible area, I think invisible walls are appropriate defense.

getting blasted would be cooler though

I’m all about practicality. Vetex already has ship-targeting area-based ranged cannonfire that can be disabled, but he does not have technology already in place for being attacked by the frostmetal curse user. It would be easy to only do the former.
