I’ve been playing helldivers 2 alot lately and damn the suddent update drop flabberghasted me, its everything i asked for. I didn’t play it yet cus its late asf but finally we get cars and vehicular manslaughter, also a whole new faction god damnnnn
im glad metaphor refantazio won a bunch of stuff, its a really cool game but i didnt play it much cus i need a break from atlus games, waping played it alot tho and seems to enjoy so thats nice
also the ui is fantastic
i didnt expect astro bot to win goty but i dont mind, it looks like a fun game but i dont have a playstation so, atleast a dlc or china didnt win
i thought that half of the game reveals were sekiro ngl, why is there so many block parry dodge games smh
kinda weird that nintendo didnt announced anything whatsoever, but there wasnt alot of games that came out this year ngl

pretty much left the stream immediately after I saw like three hoyoverse games and one wuthering waves game pop out of no where
only thing I found hype was that elden ring DLC (was the only good thing I managed to fetch)

as for reveals all i was interested in was elden ring spinoff for the most part
My personal pick for Goty was Metaphor followed by Balatro, but I don’t have any problems with astrobot winning since it seemed like a really fun, well-made game

I really dislike the game awards presented by the game awards. Not only is it filled with corporate soullessness, but it feels somewhat grotesque to me.

Surely you wouldn’t expect an indie game of all things to win an award at the game awards presented by the game awards, right?
Arcane losing adaption is one of the most strange things I’ve seen.
Don’t get me wrong, Fallout is amazing, Ella Purnell is my favorite voice actress for a reason, she’s phenomenal. But Fallout didn’t do as well as Arcane season 2 did in popularity. I stopped hearing about Fallout about a month after the release. 2024, all throughout, the Arcane fanbase did not stop, has not stopped.
It’s just confusing, but I’m happy either won. They are both amazing shows. Though I’m partial to Arcane, obviously.
I’m happy Hellblade II won some awards too, I adore that game, and the first one deeply. That game is art itself, and an amazing warning for religious psychosis and religions being flawed in their core, no matter the time.
I’m happy Helldivers 2 won best ongoing, I just also would’ve liked Destiny 2 to win as well. Amazing lore, cool looks, but I understand.
And, community support award going to BG3 is well deserved, everyone knows that. Though, No Man’s Sky is a decent mention that, if BG3 wasn’t there, I feel would’ve gotten it.
I’m a bit sad Arizona Sunshine Remake didn’t win VR/AR game, but Batman is Batman.
Also, the fact Elden Ring’s DLC didn’t win best RPG is INSANE- that game is not only gorgeous, but has some of the best worldbuilding I’ve seen.
Most Anticipated Game going to GTA VI is insane to me, specifically because I saw a decent amount of the support die once they revealed a man wasn’t the MC. Surprised it didn’t go to Death Stranding 2, but I see it.
LoL getting ESports game of the year I feel is deserved. It’s not my type of game, but it is a favorite, and that community is devoted, and I respect the hell out of how hard they go in it.
Overall, decent year. Hyped for DenOfWolves, looks like a Payday 2-Cyberpunk combo that’ll be fun.
