Not now but once the game is more finished and polished I think Vetex should add a perma death / game mode in AO. This would clearly not be a very popular game mode but none the less very fun for those who enjoy adrenaline and anxiety. AO is so progression-based and not dying throughout a whole story play through, let alone making it onto leaderboards, would be very intense and challenging. You would be way more meticulous and methodical with your every step choose your battles wisely and be VERY wary of having ANY renown which I think would actually regulate rking a lot on its own. Those who make too many enemies are sure to lose all their progress. It would be very interesting to see and experience.
I would make the revive option from darksea on at all times and also make dying drop all ur items.
have to make a new file only new files can play hardcore and they cant be transfered off hardcore
And I know darksea archipelagos is a feature for the future but it would be cool if you could store items in storages on them. and players who die have a treasure chart that drops that takes them to a island their items are at. Maybe dying automatically spawns in their base at a random archipelago’s island.
Player lists are always hidden and you can only know the number of players in the server. You still get the server name so you can locate friends.
an option to jail players or execute them, jail time counts even while ur offline and is much longer. If u jail a person you gain a lot more renown, if u execute someone, you can take their items. (execution is just killing the player fully causing perma death)
files that are made in hardcore mode are obviously stuck in hardcore mode they can’t be used in regular servers.
using something like the devourers blade to absorb peoples lost or ancient magics would be very cool like u can use the devourers blade to replace one of ur own magics with someone elses magic that you killed.
you can only party people that u can see since player list is off and can only message and trade people in your party.
Hardcore has its own auctionlist of its own. ( players on hardcore cant trade with non hardcore players)
This idea is very half-baked and could use some tuning, but it sounds pretty cool to me. (I’ll be editing this over time)
Your stat build is determined by a wheel which you spin at the start. You can change it later on with an acrimony.
Your means of combat warranted by your build are determined in the same way. For weapons, it’s weapon type that’s determined. Knights can switch one weapon for patrimony. Warlords can switch all weapons with strength weapons.
You can’t buy stuff from marketplace or other players. Only from NPCs.
Cargo runs are banned outside what’s needed for quests. However, gunpowder barrels aren’t.
You can only do the story up until the point you fight shura. You can move to sailor’s lodge at level 80 to move your spawn.
You must get bounty at level 40.
To “win”, you need to get at least 50 legit player kills, 250k bounty, reach level 140, get perfect cooking, brewing and jewelcrafting, get bronze and nimbus sea explorer and diver titles, abyss diver title and true captain title.
we would need a team of hardcore player files to camp at the cloud islands and sailor lodge to immediately kill the low levels and make them start over. only by a trial of fire and blood can they avoid death and level up to the point of being able to fight back. they have to PROVE themselves if they want to play the game
