I’d perfer to keep with close friends, don’t really have much time to add an extra game to my schedule
most people learn how to play by reading the book
i promise it isnt that complicated if you read through it.
also there is a starter guide you can purchase if you dont understand the book very well

bonus tip: don’t create your first character as a spellcaster
My dad plays this thing called pathfinder which is basically DnD
pathfinder is dnd with about 30x more rules
pathfinder is 3rd edition dnd with some extra editions.
My dad also plays this thing called starfinder which is basically Star Wars DnD
nice.
Yes, it’s fun. I would suggest playing in a group for your first time but getting both 1. a group of people who want to play irl and 2. a person who knows how to GM can be tough. There are places to find a group to play online but you can’t be certain you’ll have good synergy with them. Of course you’ll need the players hand book but you can get a free PDF of that online. It looks daunting but you only really need to read a dozen or so pages.

I can also GM.
ye thanks I was just gonna look it up myself
I mean yeah it’s pretty much 3.5e
no problemo. I have it bookmarked along with the monster manual, volo’s guide to monsters, Fizban’s treasury of dragons, Xanathar’s guide to everything, and a character sheet pdf.
