Peak game
He knows the feature is trash but doesnât care because he didnât wanna add magic changing in the first place
He added it and thatâs all we are getting
Ok sounds like he just wants premium payouts to me ngl

That response is legitimately appalling. I understand the logic of discoursing a magic reset to encourage thinking about your choices. However, magic is chosen before you start the game and know anything about it. This choice can lock you out of 1/3 (soon to be 1/4) of the combat content if you regret it. Why???
Also, has he even thought about the alternatives that people would think of? Why would anybody choose to gamble their time when they can guarantee a new magic by making a new file? All you have to do is:
For people who are scared of reading
-
Level up a new file, only just 5 hours minimum for a highly knowledgable and experienced player (and donât go too fast or you get banned)
-
Level up an alt so you can cross-trade, unless you want to lose everything (probably gotta cross-trade a build anyways)
-
Somehow get two instances at the same time to cross-trade unless you wanna gamble with trust trades (have money for multiple devices or multibox on the same device and get shit fps, btw constantly getting patched by Roblox + lost support from Bloxstrap), wait why does someone have to even research this just to do qol???
-
Cross trade everything 8 items at a time (or just sacrifice the things you donât care about - wait why do I have to do this for just changing my magic???)
-
Lose your stats and titles which donât matter right??? Oh, wasnât there one time where Vetex wanted to add a player KDR to your stats and he needed people to flame him for him to remove it??? He even fixed a bug where your hours were visually set to zero, literally one of the only times he has fixed a bug immediately and it barely did anything. Acrimonies werenât wiped this fast during the dupe, balance changes donât happen this fast, critical balance bugs donât get fixed this fast (e.g. warlock synergies not working, inverted substats)
The point is, making players choose between gambling their time or putting down an absurd amount of time is terrible (reminder that if someone wants to change their magic then they probably are not having fun, why would you make someone who doesnât want to play the game drop so many hours just to potentially have fun???).
(mechanically) Encouraging people AS THE DEVELOPER to literally make a new save file in a live-service rpg (basically you stick around for a while and have systems to encourage long progression) is crazy to say the least.
Iâm glad that I donât regret any of my magic choices, but I also donât play the game for a lot of reasons. I donât know how insane you have to be to intentionally make your game worse and not think of how your decisions affect player behavior.
your greed is hurting the lore
Problem: âI hate how toxic PvP sweats have flooded the gameâ
Solution: Entire updates dedicated to appealing to them.
Problem: âI wish PvE players would stick around longerâ
Solution: Intentionally makes a mechanic that would offer replayability as shit as humanly possible and refuses to change it for any reason.
âthis aspect of gameplay is SUPPOSED to be miserableââ and stop the sentence there, close the thread, weâre done.
Thatâs game-dev speak for âi donât like this featureâs existence but canât remove it without outcryâ, nothingâs gonna be done.
genuinely what the hell is vetexâs problem.
the âanswersâ I wanted on this threadâs creation was mostly why he absolutely hates magic changing so much. He has yet to give a single logical or straightforward reason.
The bar was NOT high. He barely had to do ANYTHING to get over it, and yet here he is, digging just to get under it.
Is it so much to expect literally anything beyond the worst possible responses I could have imagined?
I was expecting some kind of dumb lore reason he came up with last week to justify the state of this feature, but even I couldnt predict that he wants you to have a shit time looking for it. Its not even a long grind that can be somewhat enjoyable maybe, youâre meant to be miserable playing this game
i think itâs not a very complex reason, itâs probably just âyour initial magic pick should feel specialâ or âdonât want people to jump to the most meta magic of the patch all the timeâ
i wouldnât be able to tell you why that doesnât apply to FS or weapon builds too, but i get the feeling AA and WOM have made magic feel like something more âimportantâ in builds to him?
Until we hear anything from the man himself (if we ever do) weâll never know.
At this point Iâm set to agree with you, but not to the same conclusion.
Spite. Nothing but spite.
because he wants to have magic feel more permanent?
An actual reason.
Muh lore has never and never will be a good reason.
AO is a game vetex wants to work on to completion, at the current pace weâre looking several years into the future.
Am I seriously supposed to believe that tying people down to their original magic choice for that long is a good decision for the game?
This isnât just about QoL, this is about the health of the game too.
Letting people try different builds inevitably increases replayability.
This BENEFITS vetex.
He makes more money by letting people do stuff in the game!
He loses money when his playerbase is miserable and goes elsewhere.
On literally every level, there is a clear and obvious decision to make, and yet he is not making it.
It is absolutely baffling.
Well, thereâs nobody better suited to murder a game than the owner themselves
A reason is a reason no matter how shitty the reason may be
Least dick Vetex decision:
Sorry, my bad, i revived the topic
He wonât even change the color of it just to make it âmiserableâ
Even exploiters would have a hard time finding 1 lmfao
the only defense iâd give him is that itâs his game, heâs developing it so he can decide what goes
It may be his game, but its also his job.
If he drives off his own playerbase, then what?
