It is a completely uninformed choice made at the beginning of the game.
If somebody ends up with a magic that they don’t like, they’re not going to build into it, they’re going to seek out a way to change it.
Once they learn they have to pick between restarting the game and undoing all of their grinding or farm for 20 hours, its not unlikely they pick option 3 and quit altogether.
Hecate Essence is a terrible implementation for a solution to this.
Restarting the entire story is not a solution and never should be treated as one.
What exaggeration?
I have not exaggerated anything in regards to essence.
I can mostly solve the Hecate essence problem in 3 changes.
Add sensing
Make sending island wide (but it has a cooldown so it doesn’t invalidate things like revealing potions)
Make it so essence can be sensed
Man I’m smart I should design a video game. Although there’s still the issue of going to insanity 3, this should keep its lore accurate rarity intact while also making it easier to find.
Let’s go a step further and make it so that you can sense anything so grinding in general is easier.
Ngl the tension is exhausting me, I feel as if all of us have said our part and anything else would meaningless considering when this post was made and how Vetex has said or done nothing.
We could give the most ingenious solution and Vetex would either ignore or never even see it.
I don’t know, or really think that this topic has anything else to contribute considering I feel we have milked these ideas dry, unless someone would prove me wrong.
Honestly, I’m incredibly disappointed in vetex as a developer as a result of all of this.
Everything that’s happened here, all the ideas that have been thrown around, and he’s 100% silent for well over a month by this point.
The closest thing to a response he’s given is doubling down on how its meant to be miserable which really didn’t help anybody’s view of him, I’m sure.
I’ve been in alot of communities, and this is the only one where the community could rally behind something for over a month continuously and still be ignored.
Nobody said he has to change it, I don’t really get the point you are trying to make.
Its just disappointing that he keeps it in a state that is so painful without even trying to atleast have a good reason for why he did it other than to satisfy the lore accuracy. And its not just this feature , so many other parts of the game that have been complained about are ignored by vetex.
because its irrelevant, essence was added after the dark sea islands generated that way.
it was made this way in spite of the islands generating this way and would be made rarer if that were changed.
brother vetex literally said he designed it to be MISERABLE, if you can’t see how that’s automatically shit game design then you’re braindead.

i will admit big v is at fault for island generation being bad, however if islands didnt have god awful generation (assuming minimum size of about whitesummit and max size of ravenna) 1/12 is genuinely fine, and doesnt need adjustment whatsoever.
im saying IN SPECIFIC, hecate’s rarity is entirely fine, and shouldnt be adjusted.
(with the exception of rendering further but i didnt really have issues with this so i dont know how bad it is)
