Hey guys, need some help

Hey guys, just wanted to talk about something.

Is it just me or is anyone else feeling kinda sad since the entire world is having problems, between the current u.s. president, the large amount of conflicts, and just life in general, and it is made worse knowing you have no say in any of these events no matter how much it affects you? Or am I just overreacting and shouldn’t be worrying about this.

It’s not just you.

We live in a time where the single most militarily powerful country in the world is rampant with the pettiest, most incompetent group it has ever known. You would be a fool to not be fearful. Especially if you study history, and understand that this situation can turn not from merely expensive and unsettling to a full-blown war.

I wish I could offer words of encouragement, to tell you it’s not as bad as it looks. But in truth, it is. It is as bad as it look, and the problem is, the country was in a state that let it happen, which means we’re not well-situated to recover from it.

As for the wars in the rest of the world, I admit I’ve tuned those out. I don’t have any more empathy to spare for those dying in the Middle East. It just happens so much that I’m burned out, and am unwilling to even think about it. You, just like every human alive today, were not emotionally or mentally designed to handle this kind of world. It’s of no surprise that it’s overwhelming—you were never made for it to begin with.

Also, to the mods watching. I know this topic will likely get taken down. I just wanted to share my piece, because I’ll be damned if I don’t try and offer comfort to someone, regardless of the rules.

History nerds watching current events:

Including me

It mimicks the events in Nazi Germany, plain and simple. A man rises through the government system, claims to have a fix to the country’s problems, and pins it on a group of outsiders. He brings in people who support him, regardless of morals or ethics. And his plan is unsustainable and ultimately terrible for the Nation.

The difference is, Germany at least had the excuse that it was being screwed over by other countries from WWI (the Allied Powers). Here in the US, we create that screw-over all by ourselves. Because we’re a special kind of stupid.

Hi chat as a Brit screw what anyone says I’m terrified about the US, I’m a member of a fair few targeted groups and also our government have been warning of possible war lately because we’re close allies with the US and all

I honestly can’t imagine what it’s like for those of you who actually do live in the US, but you’re all really good people on the whole and frankly none of this is your fault, or my fault, or anything. So we’ve got to stay strong until a certain president gets his act together or loses power and support.

We can do this.

Guys i might not be cookee because im not legally autistic or lgbtq so im not cooked!!!

Donald trump is still wrong though and most world leaders atm

My theory is we just get all world leaders killed and start fresh

keep being so damn awesome and supportive and I’ll give you my damn liver (you’ll have to go to Sock to get it verified tho)

the world… sucks. We can focus on the good, yeah, but as people, even if we do that, we have a job. make the world better. accepting. more kind. make people feel free to be themselves in this world.

that is why I’m still going.

I just found this topic and everybody in here is amazing, it’s nice to see the forums assemble as one here even if it does get taken down. I’m a history buff and into politics but Christ this is terrible. The U.S is supporting a bill that empowers oligarchs and is actual genocide, I can’t antagonise anybody who’d feel worried in that world and the same goes for me.

You’re not overreacting at all. I’m from the UK but I am a member of a few targeted groups, and the fact that I’ve been living in third-world countries and the fact that NOWHERE IS SAFE scares the living shit out of me. Like in July violent protests broke out in Bangladesh where I live, so my family and I got sent to the UK. Turns out that there were also riots in the UK relating to the Southport stabbing incident (they were mainly targeting Muslims and I have a lot of family members who are Muslim). I’m also really scared for the US since they just started targeting LGBTQ+ people, autistic people, spreading a lot of anti-vax bs, and shutting down USAID (a good number of people at my school have parents who work for USAID). The amount of wars going on right now and the prospect of the UK or the entirety of NATO getting dragged into them doesn’t help, and we mustn’t forget the current climate crisis. I took a break from the news which helped for a while, and I’m slowly getting back into it.

I don’t mean to make this about me but I just wanted to share my take on all this because it has been bothering me lately.
