Hey y’all! I know the Dark Sea update is still a ways away, but I just thought I’d make a topic where people can discuss how to prepare for it.
Get 20k galleons and dont join game untill vetex adds brig(in order to dont loose them)
get 40k galleons so you have 20k left over to repair the brig while in the dark sea
Get a bunch of good ship upgrades and potions, also maybe equipment
-
The first thing you’ll need for the dark sea update is 20k galleons, so that you can buy the Brig as soon as it comes out. The Brig’s a large step above any other ship type in-game right now, so it’s the ideal one for venturing into the dark sea.
-
along with your brig you’ll want the best ship equips and enchants for it, which mostly vary by what you’re looking for in a ship. My current equips give me an additional 3.4k health as well as decent speed.
-
while the brig will come with its own brewing cauldron, there’s no harm in preparing a large amount of potions before your trek into the dark sea. You’ll probably want to grind a lot of jellyfish flesh so you can place brews on your deck, since they’re one of the most efficient potion types.
-
^ same applies to meals, you can prep a bunch of recovery meals beforehand so you don’t need to burden yourself with doing it while in a tough situation. From what I’ve heard fishing hasn’t been implemented into the dark sea, so it’d be inconvenient to run out of recovery meals there.
-
Perfect your armour & gear with the right enchants and gems. You have a few months to find and socket your equipment with your ideal jewels, so it’s possible that you’ll already have this done by the time the update comes out
Adding to this by grinding out the gems now.
‘Oh lettuce but there will be exotic gems in the dark seas!’ Be quiet.
Having the advantage now is much better than getting it later.
Because one of the best ways to grind gems and jewels is through diving spots for reagents and sealed chests for the gems themselves, you can also ascertain quite a lot of money to use to get the brig. Heck, I got perfect jewelcrafting yesterday but I’m still going to grind sealed chests to get gems. Partly to get money but It’s also for the maximum secondary stats.
Would stability or speed deckhands be more useful to prepare for the Dark Sea? I have two speed deckhands and one ram strength deckhand at the moment. praying deckhands aren’t attached to infamy by the time the update comes out
one of my friends said over 80 stability is enough to ignore the rough waters in the dark sea, so probably
How much base stability does the brig have? And how much stability do deckhands give?
the brig starts with 75%
Oooooh then I won’t really need any stability deckhands, will I? Speed would be better in this case while I get stability from ship attachments.
Yea cause if 80 stability is enough to ingore the Rough Seas in the Dark seas then simply switching back to the Redwake crew will reach it and will likely literally be “smooth sailing from there”.
The Frame, Sail, Canons, Ram, and Siege Weapon are whatever one wishes to use most likely. Since 12k hp is more than what most Ketches have, pair that w/ the Frames and Sails w/ their enchants it’ll be higher from there.
As a reminder,
Brigs have:
+8k more hp
+5 more speed
+15% more Stability
-10 Resilience
+600 Ram Str.
Than Ketches
So be expected to switch some things out
idk tho, isnt dark sea weather gonna be less dangerous?
but anyway brig is perfect ship for adventures and battles (not surprising why it cost 20k g)
and having caravel or ketch in dark sea just gonna be scary (as you can hide only (rn) in brig).
Yes compared to what we currently face in terms of “Weather”. But also no since that the actual weather and environment is going to be completely different to what we currently see.
Tornados, Glaciers, Whirlpools, Random Magic Polluted Rain, Even harsher Rough Seas most likely, and more. All of which are going to be more likely it seems and more intense than what we normally see or even have rn.
(This is mostly my speculation though, Vetex does and isn’t spoiling what we’ll see and it makes it more fun that way.)
doesn’t Edward grant stability?
Ah he does apparently.
I always use him regardless cause Enizor is super useless sometimes that i don’t even notice nor think about his stats.
Then forget the Redwake crew if u want unless you want 85% stability, and just simply use the Sailors then.
when I use caravel I use sailors for the ram resistance and Ravenna soldiers when using the ketch.
The thing about the soldiers though is that its honestly better to just use Sailors and have the 10% resilience than 5%. The +300 hp isn’t enough to convince me to ever use them currently, especially since the Brig can have a Ram now.
For Ketches it might be decent to put them on but the 300 hp isn’t really going to make much of a difference for me.
yeah ill definitely switch to the sailors when I use the brig. But the 300 extra health allows less speed reduction when my ketch’s health is dropping.
