How would you improve the dialogue?

at this rate i just wanna rewrite the whole post battle elius scene, gotta do my boy justice

Same, I’m actually working on a rewrite of the Bronze Sea storyline through the perspective of my OC, and I plan to use a lot inspiration from the different forum posts about ways to improve the story. Not sure when it will come out though, I like to finish a story completely before releasing it.

Addendum: The specific OC being Sif.

There’s quite a few portions of the story that could be rewritten to be made more impactful or clear

I wouldn’t mind that, but they’re not exactly saying some basic thing like “we wanna rule the world” or “we’re just a bunch of crazy murderers”, but we don’t get something like that we’re just getting what they want to do to help achieve it.

Again, I’m not asking for the secret bigger goal, I just want the simple goal that they tell us as a front to be something less dumb then “furthering magic”. Something like “we want to control the whole war seas” wouldn’t even spoil anything because they’re legit already trying to do that with their whole shadow empire thing going on. With that the secret bigger goal still remains hidden.

Trying to be as clear as possible, I’m not saying we need more info, I’m saying their front should seem more like an actual goal because “furthering magic” sounds stupid and like a whole bunch of nothing. Even if its a front for a bigger reason it should still actually sound like they’re trying to do something and it could actually bring harm to people so we actually feel like we’re fighting a real threat. “Furthering magic at all costs” doesn’t do the first one and barely scratches the second one. Its just kinda boring. If the front was just “maintaining/expanding our influence”(maybe said it a much fancier/intimidating way) then we still have the same information as we do now at the end of the bronze sea, just with the order actually sounding like they’re really trying to do something.

My point here is that we’re in kinda in deep in shit by this point so its not like us getting some info, even if not directly from them, would’ve been crazy. That said again wasn’t even looking for actual new info just a cover motive that’s less stupid and practically non-existent

Make him bow on his knees and apologize for daring to heal himself

i think it would’ve made more sense for elius to only mention curses, and then when we next meet warren we ask about them and get the explanation from him

reason i don’t think it should be randal is cause iirc he kinda went back to sleep after we ask about the order of aesir

-randal or warren lordedump us on what curses are, better than elius.

-make carina feel more like a person than a robot and give her a cutscene where she reacts to us telling her about her brother, if we spared him, she’ll look to the side and quickly look up confidently and with a cocky smirk, maybe mock her little brother a bit before saying she’ll make up for his incompetence, if we killed him… she’ll step back in shock, and will act a lot less composed, maybe even be on the verge of crying, yeah she’s mean to him but they’re still family.

-I would keep revon the same tbh but twist it so his grief and immaturity slowly tear him apart and destroy him as he keeps making awful impulsive decisions out of vengeance for his brother throughout the game.

-add a flirting route to windrow island camp scene with iris. :smiling_imp:

-make NPC conversations feel more fluid and natural and less like they’re just walking information stations like the ones in loomian legacy (LL seriously struggles with having humanlike NPCs lol)

Tbh, it makes a lot of sense considering the nature of the War Seas itself. Its a place where “Might makes right.”, or “Power trumps all”. It’s a place where people are at constant war for Sea Curses, to become more powerful, for more glory. More magic power. It makes sense that in such a place, an organization would rise with the intentions of pushing the limits of magic itself. For more power. What I said about Arthur and the War of the Gods also further aligns with this.

A big constant theme that’s occurring in the AU is that magic literally fucked up the world and humanity. People are literally playing God. So we’re getting that full front and center. (Also, ruling the War Seas as the main objective is even more cliche and boring for me imo. )

Vetex points out that Warren already left by the time we fight Elius, so there was no way MC could’ve contacted him to ask about Curses. Thats why he resorted to having Elius explain it, there was no one else who could explain it at the time. (He also personally preferred Warren explaining it)

Fair, but then they really should’ve just said that then.

Uh, didnt Elius technically explain it when talking about Curses?

Did he? Hang on let me check

Im pretty certain he also mentioned that people fought over Sea Curses, thats why it was even called “The War Seas”. And Im pretty sure that conflict with Ravenna and Calvus wanting power was telling of it too. It aint exclusive to him.

then we could’ve just had him explain later, maybe at talos or windrow

Not enough time for Fort Talos, it wouldve risked them being caught if they stayed too long. And Windrow might be too late since MC needs some decent knowledge on Curses to at least understand what’s going on with Morden.

not knowing what curses are would probably confuse new players seeing as they’re rather integral to the story after Cirrus, but I mean it would kinda add an air of mystery? dont think it’d fit though.

He’s just kinda talking about sea curses and telling us why the kingdoms fight over them and the power they grant, he doesn’t say that the order is motivated by the idea of controlling the sea by might which is what I’m saying they should’ve said(not necessarily Elius himself) if they’re going for more power.

No, but they don’t say or act like its the motive for the order as a whole either. Like I’m saying if they said what you said about “might makes right” either replacing or in addition to “furthering magic” it would’ve sounded a lot better, thats what I’m saying.

Yep. Heck, new players didnt even know this whole story was based on Greek myths, and I remember seeing someone shocked at seeing Poseidon. I wished the story trailers has said something about Prometheus giving magic to humanity or something so that they at least know what this is about.

That… wasnt what I meant?

What I meant was that the War Seas was a place where they valued power and magic above all else, and this is why the Order’s intentions of pushing the limits of magic makes sense in this context. Elius’ dialogue should be telling.

“The benefit of this is having extreme power, which is why these are called the War Seas. The kingdoms are constantly fighting over Sea Curses, trading them, and killing for them.”
