And I’m saying that, that should actually be said as part of the order’s motive instead of just furthering magic, because Warren straight up stating that their goal was furthering magic at any cost makes it seem like thats their sole objective. The use of “goal” makes it seem like that furthering magic is the end goal, so if there is any implication that they’re doing it for the sake of power it kinda gets messed up by the dialogue acting like furthering magic is all that it’s about.
Nah.
The following should happen per build:
Magic: You immediately blow up his balls with your magic
Strength: Find a random piece of silver in the ground, punch it into his stomach. He’s crippled.
Weapons w/o a gun equipped or in inventory: You pluck out a silver sword, and cut down Revon enough to halt him
Weapons w/ a gun: Load in a silver bullet and say “I always kept one handy for heretics like you…” and immediately shoot Revon in the chest, supposedly killing him (you didn’t)
Vitality: Revon attempts to attack you, but the attack doesn’t even hurt you. Instead, you literally just fucking hold your palm out, shout “Godly FLASH!” and a burst of spirit energies launches Revon into Mount Caesar.
And savants with all stats just do a combination of all of them in the order of: Weapons (gun prioritized), strength, vitality, magic.
Well, I cant see why it shouldn’t be. The “unsealing a great power” seems to align with this goal, as the way Calvus worded sounded like they wanted to do this for more power. And again, it makes sense considering what the War Seas is. Magic can be kind of synonymous with power in this verse, since we know magic trumps all.
Feel free to to think differently though, this topic is becoming more subjective in which we just have different takes on the whole Order thing.
I personally have the opposite perspective in which I think making the Order’s goal being “Rule the world” and having magical experiments on the side would be too cliche. Furthermore, this was the exact same motives that Durza had in AA, don’t need to do that twice really.
To be clear when I say that it sounds like they mean furthering magic is the end goal I mean thats it, they’re not doing it for power, they’re just doing it for the sake of it.
I don’t know if I actually believe that but to me thats what it sounds like they’re trying to say when Warren says, “their goal is furthering magic at any cost”
Agreeing to disagree is probably the route we gotta go here, I can agree with you on that lol
Is this brown? Am I colorblind? I’m not being sarcastic, I’m seriously asking if this is brown you got me questioning my eyesight.
More magic = more power, thats the impression I get when it comes to the War Seas in general. (Doesnt Neviro have an arc about him feeling powerless due to having no magic? Plays into the “Power trumps all” mindset in the War Seas.)
I assumed them wanting to further the power of magic means they want to see the limits of magic can take them, to discover the true power of magic itself since the War Seas just seemed very magic-obsessed in general. That was my interpretation at least.
Neviro you can still make 15th strongest in the war seas, you just have to lock in and train for a few decades
Decades, sure, he definitely has decades to prepare for the incoming end of the world, dw
Only line of dialouge in the game that feels a bit funny to me every time is the protagonist going full cartoon network on Calvus.
“You’re evil! Can’t you see that?”
Would swap that to something more grounded like
“How can you justify the things you’ve done?”
Its certainly possible thats would it could mean, I just get that they’re doing it more for the sake of it whenever I read that line. Its worded like thats it, and while magic does give a lot of power that doesn’t exactly mean that they’re one and the same they don’t have to be doing it for the sake of power which is why the line just acting like their whole goal is simply furthering magic is just kinda throwing me off here and if it is for the sake of power I’d much rather they just come out and say it instead of being weird about it.
Totally possible that you’re entirely right and thats what they meant, but imo the line doesn’t do a great job at delivering that even with the context of the war seas culture.
Ooo, thats good, I’ve been thinking about what could’ve been better and this is the first time I’ve seen a line, including lines I’ve made up myself, that actually sounds really good to me.
Vetex forgot moment
About that replacement for the “You’re evil” line…
Looking at the full dialogue, that line seems to be better in the place of “The world will be a better place without you.” part. Only because its a response right after Calvus says “If this Order of Aesir engages in evil, that’s fine, it’s a small sacrifice in the grand scheme of things…”, and after explaining his own backstory or whatever.
You can just remove the “You’re evil, can’t you see that?” part entirely and the dialogue would still be alright
And now that you say it… that single line might hold even more significance if it came from the MC themself.
Because apparently, MC was supposed to be shocked by the revelation that many people died as a result of their fight with General Argos. Vetex just wasnt able to depict this in-game and was planning to dive into this subject more when AO becomes a novel/book series.
I emphasised this before, MC had the choice to escape and not confront General Argos right awat, but they didnt. This resulted in the deaths of possibly more than a mere 30 people.
MC would just ultimately try to justify it within themselves, convincing that it was for the greater good.
So MC saying that to Calvus would hold MUCH MORE WEIGHT with this knowledge in mind. How is MC different from Calvus, who also ended up taking innocent lives in their pursuit of justice? If Calvus is evil for trying to justify his actions, is MC any different? It blurs the line of whats good and evil, which I think would definitely be an occurring them in AO and might be a key point of their character arc.
…Oh damn.
Isnt there a break between fort talos and ravenna
I’ve always thought of the Order as organised crime; a bunch of shareholders dedicated to furthering magic, enploying people to research it, perhaps? Obviously, if they did this then they would be the first to harness this new knowledge → completely destroy enemies.
I rechecked and nope. No break. They go there immediately after the Fort Talos thing.
idk if this was mentioned but calvus LITERALLY says “theres an ancient power we wanna unseal and we need people like you to do it”
I’m aware, but that’s falls into kinda the same issue of being more a thing they want to do rather than the actual motivation for why they’re doing it.
i think its just corruption, they want more power which can be implied
their goal is to further the POWER of magic at all costs
This has already been said in here, but Elius being the one to explain curses to us doesn’t really make sense, though since Warren already left at that point, and apparently the library guy isn’t an option, how about making Neviro the one to explain curses to us?
Neviro already is forgotten by a lot of people by the time he helps out in the mines, him being the one to explain curses would make him more memorable atleast, and he would probably know enough because of his family and what happened to his kingdom. The way this would happen is the MC asking him about it after hearing about them from Elius, since Neviro was the one that gave us the clue to find the Order members there in the first place (or atleast that’s how I remember that stuff, it’s been a while since I’ve seen that part of the story, it doesn’t help that I also forgot about Neviro entirely after meeting him lol)
