I had a thought. Aether magic is really strong and really big, but really really slow.
What’s good for just that job though? Resistance of course!
I threw together this mid ahh build for Aether magic. If you spend all your time casting, and you have resistance while casting, then you just have sheer output.
ELABORATE TO ME HOW EXPLOSIVE LIGHT IS SLOW TO YOU
(Complete sentence)
Why would explosive light be slow? It has to be at least 1.3x attack speed, I refuse to accept a smaller value.
Um, have you seen it?
And if Calvus just happens to be slow on his own (and aethereal ornament), then it’d be the best lost magic with no contest.
Okay but you’ve seen it haven’t you? We have two different examples and they’re both ungodly slow.
Aether’s very first appearance was as a weapon that has massive size and power, but took forever to charge.
Pal he uses iron leg and charges all his attacks
Iron leg isn’t going to affect his magic. In fact his Iron Leg is going faster.
Look man, as far as I’m concerned, this should be Aether Magic’s stats:
0.875x Damage
1.5x or 1.6x Speed
1.25x Size
Gimmick: Overcharge
Aether Magic can be charged for a major increase in size and power. I believe base charging increases size and damage by 1.33x, Aether could be capped at 1.5x power and size. Charging takes like… 1.33 seconds? I forgot, it doesn’t take more than 2 seconds, but this overcharge mechanic would probably take 2 seconds. Maybe the Size amp could grow a bit faster to say… 1.7x or 1.75x
0/10
Has modifiers and doesn’t exist
There are two possibilities.
Either Aether Magic is weak when uncharged, but strong when charged; or it’s really slow.
1.75x size is my dream
That’s also really inaccurate for damage.
I don’t know why you’re planning a lost magic build when there is bound to be better gear added eventually
Well I’m not planning to use it, in fact I have no plans to use Aether Magic at all.
It seems like fun on a defense-based build though.
I agree with the damage, but not the speed or size.
1.4 speed and 1.2 size at max.
Yall are in denial if you think it’s going anywhere above 0.5x speed.
That would make it slower than literal metal, and thus is quite literally impossible to happen safe to say
the only magics that will ever reach metals speed are fellow superheavy solids like Frostmetal.
Again, it’s either going to be really slow, like in AA, or have a huge damage multiplier when charged, like the calvus fight.
You cant use AA as an example, the only form of Aether we ever saw there was the Aethereal Ornament, which was a slow caster on purpose due to its 2 moves having
Q - Insane island to island range, letting you obliterate people from well past AO’s max damage range.
E - Massive AOE and fling.
That was the gimmick of aether, and it still is. You charge it for a really long time, and then it does big size and big damage. Though Aethereal Ornament is definitely overblown.
