I’ve gotta see what they’re doing so right. You can add ways to make money with little effort, but to keep players so invested is another huge thing.
From what I can tell already, the visual and sound effects go crazy, making even the M1 an absolute rush to use.

Haven’t seen anything about Races, it just immediately asked me if I want to be a pirate or a marine, Jailbreak style.

okay, another thing that makes it feel good to play, I can immediately feel the feedback from investing points. I don’t think I’ll be able to replicate that one, since I’m going for a largely skill-based system.

its honestly mostly luck, they hit the jackpot in terms of player count and because its so popular its perpetually on the front page so more people play. its honestly really easy to replicate its main mechanics
Easy to replicate is right. They didn’t even make the NPCs do anything other than walk, punch, and teleport when they fall in water, from what I can tell.
I’ve made my build fully melee and defense, and so far I’m still m1 spamming.
So far, they haven’t beaten the bandit beater allegations. This is so boring.

Well, they didn’t make it very clear how to get any more Combat abilities, and that’s the only thing I really have, so what do I do now?

After you get a certain amount of money, you can buy other fighting styles. The lowest level one (which is my personal favourite for first sea) is dark step, which is bought on Pirate island (the level 30 island)
