For this scenario you’ve been given full control over the game’s direction. You’re free to make any changes to the lore and gameplay but you cannot move the game off of roblox
Q&As every 3 months.
complete renown system rework, separating bounty from fame to allow for being a criminal who’s lowkey beloved and chill like robinhood or luffy i think, and adding more than one type of bounty to fit this system:
- regular bounty which depends on crimes committed against law-abiding people,
- assassination value which depends on crimes committed against evil people,
- new forsaken value which pays in silvers and depends on crimes committed in the nimbus lands (intentionally silly),
- and even sight sacrifices if i could think of a reward for them.
should i just make this into a suggestion?
I think another cool addition would be using the merciful/ruthless trait. So Merciful Bounty Players would have a different style bounty then Ruthless Bounty Players
Atlantean brigs are removed. They serve no purpose other than minor nuisances and free supplies in the Dark Sea. Shadow-imbued weather gets the same treatment, along with the newly added tornado realm of DOT (massive dot rings).
The game will enter a “project heath” period of updates, dedicated to reworking old content and fixing bugs within the game (as well as optimizing performance). Notable bosses to be changed/reworked are Iris, Maria, Jarl Ivar, and Ormolu (who will have his fight redesigned entirely). Of note, flying whales will become canonized and will retain their existence as a creature in the Nimbus Lands.
Future updates to the Dark Sea will attempt to redesign it as a true wasteland inhospitable to any life. The magic pollution in the deeper reaches is simply to potent for anything but the hardiest of creatures to survive. While immense riches can still be discovered and threats will still lay within, the true opponent will be the environment itself. Islands will be fewer and further between, insanity will begin within the first reach, water poisoning will become more damaging, and encounters with Sea Monsters will be vastly reduced (unless you throw giant bait into the ocean, in which case their spawning in that area will be increased).
Communication with the community will be improved (hopefully), with more frequent Q&As, as well as more interaction on the forums and discord. Patch notes on the trello will attempt to justify major changes, especially those that would change gameplay or difficulty to a noticeable degree.
Notoriety will be reworked as to no longer have enemies that swim forever to catch up to your ship. Instead, they will work off of your last known location (either an area of an island or where you last committed a crime). In the event you are found, they will attack you. If their ship is sunk, they will stay seated on it (like normal NPCs), as to not jump onto your own ship despite losing the ship battle. Scaling will remain the same for Grand Navy vessels, however Golden Ones will now increase in numbers for every Paramount Bank ship killed until you reset your notoriety.
remove percent damage
Bronze Sea Story touch ups. Particularly the dialogue but the overall story in my opinion could be tweaked/lengthening to give us more time with the main cast(looking at Morden).
Morden fights Argos instead of me and I get every single curse in lore
paladin exclusive spells (because magic energy alone cannot heal and I don’t wanna make lore changes) that are literally just healing/support spells. 90% of total spells will just be paladin spells that are purely supportive and, judging from enchantment prices, nobody will want to use them except for me so then they sell for 10k on the marketplace. i would also make it so if you’re not in a party, you can heal/buff anybody so i can support people against their will. nobody will be safe
aside from that, I’d probably have most of the bugs plaguing the game rn fixed asap bc i cant go through a single session without encountering like 10 of them.
storywise i’d probably have slower pacing in the story so we can stop and get to know the cast more (and not have morden abandon us immediately on dawn island, it would’ve been cool if he tagged along in early bronze sea)
Make an update fixed the mountain of jank and bugs, and fix half the basic features in the game not working
Remove animals and % based damage, they serve no purpose other than annoying players
Make Dark sea actually optimised and tornado whirlpool to not spawn on top of players
Remove hectate essense and invent a lore reason so that you can reset your magic for like, 1000 galleons max
Rework or just completely remove fleets
All wandering minibosses will have a 1 in 1 drop rate due to how they may appear on the opposite edge of the sea or go sailing. On top of this the location function of boards will improve to add a general direction for where someone may be sailing (Western Nimbus Sea, North east bronze sea, etc:)
As for the bosses that remain in one single location a pity system for drops would be implemented to lessen the pain of grinding for 1 drop when you get literally everything else
Unfortunately, there’s not much for me to say as I am unable to play the Full Release Update and don’t have recent experience with the game. But, with what I remember I’ll do my best.
Firstly, for the story, I would give Warren a bigger role in the story other than just being a fricking hobo that is apparently the strongest guy we meant so far. He would have a much stronger relationship with the protagonist, Iris, and Morden serving as an actual present mentor. Future parts in the story will focus on him balancing the duty that he has towards the Azura Province and as the protecting the protagonist’s group from harm. He could motivate the protagonist throughout the story: stressing that even though the protagonist never picked to be the savior of this world, he must push on: possibly even relating to protagonist with how he was forced to be the protector of the Azure Province due to his immense power.
Next, Vetex has already mentioned this, but a readjustment to the Bronze Sea storyline is much needed. Also, showing conflicts among the protagonist’s group similarly to One Piece. Additionally, Morden will actually care about us more than his dead friend, maybe being overly protective of us because he doesn’t also want to the lose the protagonist.
Next, optimization, I will try to balance optimizing the game while adding those intended game features mentioned in the Trello like dragons and arcanum weapons.
Lastly, gameplay, somebody already mentioned this, but, remove Atlantean Brigs and shadow tornados are awfully problematic so they gotta go.
Like it’s obvious Vetex wants to show how the characters in his game are human, but srsly giving us some BS journal about Morden is the worse way to show it storytelling wise. Even if Morden is hesitant to tell his friends, show it while talking to him. For example, if something emotional is touched on, show him avoiding eye contact or just appearing anxious. This is way easier with video games because we are not readers: we are viewers. We don’t have to visualize Morden while playing a video game the same way we do with a book.
I would rewrite a lot of the character interactions and dialogue to be more natural, and make the characters seem more than 1-dimensional. Right now it seems every character in the game and lore could pretty easily be summarized with one sentence, even the major ones that are supposed to be complex
Making Black Magic esque system.
Making more crazy combat system.
Dark Souls type bosses
Races / ingame NPC’s being racist to you
Race Specs
MMA Fighting style
Other cool stuff.
This game essentially just turns into a fighting game RPG and not Arcane Odyssey ![]()
How did we all collectively forgot about terrain destruction
“Learn spacial awareness, cry about it” - Vetex (Ik I got the quote wrong).
Like frankly, nobody cares about seeing the arena slowly deteriorate. Additionally, there’s so many better ways of showing if it be special marks by magic, claw marks after doing claw attacks, etc.
Also, I know this has been talked to death but I am genuinely confused on why galaga and assumedly the rest of the team stated that “they are not looking to bring on any additional [help].” I understand there could be the worry of managing the extra help or getting inadequate help(especially if it’s offered as free) and a million other concerns. That said I think it would be good, as tedious as it would be, for the team to put out applications or ask for commissions from the community. It would take a while as we all want to make sure the job can be done properly but AO’s development is already going to take a century, so WE have time.
“cannot move it off Roblox”
No thanks. But I did make way more armours have substats and add back old luck as shrines you can get from the far reaches of the dark sea.
Pocket the money and let the devs do their thing.
I did that so people didn’t just flood it with ‘I would move it to steam’
I will rename all the game class back to what they was or come up with better name for them. Like what class name is warrior strength, mage strength these are not name they are class description
Rework how the weapons note work to have less trash in the inventory. Like u pick katana now you know all the move of the katana and can apply the to knife, sword with out taking the move out of the katana and so on.
Rework/add some scroll spells and techniques to be only conj and warlock like why javen isn’t conj spell only it literally you conjure up a spear throw it
Rework the fleet to have them less rewarding like around 3k-5k coin and have them focus on regent and catalysts, modified gear basically stuff u are lazy to farm lol
