Alright I understand the answer to this already, so yes, I am aware about the current state of the game but first. What I’m annoyed about is how everything has become build orientated, classes, gear and more. It’s really tiring and I can’t escape it anywhere, I log on to AO I see builds and trades and yeah, I get why people are doing it right now but for a lore guy and person appreciates every other thing about AO it’s so tiring. I mean seeing threads and people go on about some meta build or “Op new gear!!!” is really, really annoying. I’m too tired for this and I’m energy deficient so go argue this.
This is the barest I could put it into words due to me making this before just going to sleep or smth like that. I miss the days of AO I would fly around cirrus and it had that truly magical feel to it, now it’s all pvp and ganking clans. Welp, go tell me how AMAZING pvping and all this build type stuff is down below so I can disconnect from my boring reality. To sum it up, “I’m tired boss.”
That’s what I’m talking about, builds and all of that. Every time I hear Mage, Warrior, Conj etc I just become disinterested because it’s going to become best build talk. I also really fucking hate conj so much but that’s for another time.
I never make files for combat viability, but for the aesthetics. I have a knight file because purple spirit energy is beautiful. I have a fire savant because fire is gorgeous and mixed with divine spirit energy on a greatsword is going to be sick as hell. I WON’T play something “good” if i don’t find it cool
I think that’s a given because of how PVP has become in AO. It could’ve been said less had a PVP Toggle been implemented earlier, but I don’t think there’s any going back until that toggle comes out… but I don’t know if it’d change. Even if I don’t like it though, nor partake in it, I kinda always accept that it’ll always be there, and at this point, I generally tune them out most of the time.
AO is a game, and what people enjoy out of it really depends with how expansive it is. Sure, maybe you do believe that the PVE, non-combat aspects are great. I do too. But who’s to say it couldn’t be fun for others to discuss strategy, combat, and a whole other part of the game that we don’t interact with? Bar gankers and toxicity, obviously, but the latter applies to both PVP and PVE.

I made a thread for fun build ideas, there’s plenty of them on there that are made for a theme, or a fun idea, rather than gameplay effectiveness. I suppose I should warn you, there is talk of gameplay on occasion.
Not just that, it’s how everything has become essentially build or in some way pvp related, which item goes here and is the best for here and all of that. Magic combo this, clash that, hitbox aoe that and get their poster it’s tiring to hear for so long
I’m going to sleep so go on about builds all you want, customization is just too tiring for me with this fancy stuff anymore man, I don’t want to grind the dark sea, I don’t want to follow this jewelcrafting minmax stuff anymore boss.
I know. I get it. Perhaps the best for you is to take a break from the forum or look for different things. Maybe there would be more stuff to do in Full Release given the content drought, so arguably PVP is very flexible and common to talk about in the downtime.
Fair point actually, like the game is so dry. There’s nothing else to do but grind, pvp, screwing around with friends but you can only SCREW around so much until there’s nothing left
