Is cloud magic a fraud magic?

making my own thread because some DOOFS in lore drop keep on blabbering about cloud being fraudder tier magic.

poll: is it fraud? yes or no and why.

  • yes its fraud
  • no say because it might actually be extremely cracked as a gimmick magic
  • no its not fraud

NOW HEAR ME OUT, if it is a gimmick magic then it can have a system where the clouds can be magic mutated so the user can randomly shoot out a fire or acid cloud or something that does damage.

mud magic was able to wet people and make them turtle slow

i believe cloud is able to reduce lung intake and mess up your energy intake in your muscles

its no fraud

its fraud and ur stupid and i ate your breakfast

Kinda, but like. It’d be so bad at doing everything because its a cloud. like why wouldn’t storm magic be able to do that + having lightning and rain? Like, the only gimick i can see for cloud is that it absorbs statuses and applies them to anybody inside the cloud. But should logically do the same thing because its basically Cloud+Lightning+Water+Wind

cloud slanderers when neviro shows up kicking ass using the cloud curse

we went and thrashed Fort Talos without a curse. Beringer has a curse and lost, clearly the magic made him a fraud.

Neviro will get folded.

i think beringer isjust a fraud overall honestly

vetex said any curse user could become number 1 it just depends on how well they are at using the curse

Vetex clearly forgot about cloud, which is exempt from that capability.

It is useful as a curse ngl, being able to disapear into something so inconspicuous. like it could work as fog or clouds, imagine spying on people with that. Or turning into a cloud and getting inside somebody and turning back…

it’s clearly the guy that is a bum, you can tell that just by looking at his ugly hair

absolutely not, we have things like light and wind magic, cloud would definitely be viable (especially considering it’s magic energy anyway, so it’d deal damage no matter what)

it is precisely because storm magic has multiple aspects that a single magic focusing on just one of those would outclass it in that domain (assuming the two magics are of equal tier like both being lost magics). it’s like hybrid vs pure classes, overall they are both equally strong, but a conjurer will not be able to match a mage in magic

don’t think we’ve ever been told storm magic is part cloud magic

Light magic would fry you, its pure energy (supercharged). I’d imagine it gives off way more heat like a stupidly powerful flashilight. ya’ll downplaying light.

Also wind can move stuff and can go faster while carrying things; also strong winds could probably break a few bones when it sends you flying, or if it was compressed and hit you hard enough. Yes, AO clouds can carry things, but their frauds that get moved by wind so it doesnt matter.

its like how waterbending used to be fraud until people learned bloodbending from it
if used creatively enough, it’s cracked

I think cloud magic would probably have low damage but have insane synergies, or more unique ones, for example:

Cloud + water would make the clouds denser and make them be slightly harder to go through + deal soaked status effect

Cloud could possibly increase the size of Ash/Poison clouds but make them slightly weaker in damage (as they are more dispersed)

Electrify dem clouds, or something idk.

Imagine how shameful it is walking up to the Curse user disucssiona and you’ll see why every cloud curse user becomes a fraud:

you’ve got all the Ancients and Lost Magics, really cool and powerful, amped up by a curse…

The Base magics are left of the “weaker” ones…

The solid magics rejoice, all of them capable of creating super cool structures and weaponry from nothing… Millions of armies satiated by them alone. The wood curse builds ships; the stone curse builds mountains; Metal curse creates tools and armor; Ice curse sends the world down several degrees and makes glaciers…

Sand and Snow are a bit weaker than the pure solids, but the infinite Blizards and storms insane crowd control. Civilizations tormented by infinitely piling weather.

Wind does the same; as tons of debris from across the War Seas are flung in, and million of those who disobey flung out.

Energy and Heat Curse users make destruction so easily: Light can travel anywhere; Plasma scorches everything; Fire runs fervent; Thunder roars eerily…

The water curse commands the sea and waves, in our current world, we lie at their mercy to not drown any further…

Poison and Acid are elite assassins, with tools capable of killing anything in mere seconds…

Shadow Curse exists as a pure void, absorbing all that crosses them…

Now after all those cool guys, it your turn, the cloud curse user:

…Hi guys, my ability lets me make wimpy ass clouds, which cannonically only deal damage because of magic energy unlike every other Magic which could reasonably deal damage under easy to make situations for mages… I could make a giant fog or something , please don’t use a clearsight potion to remove it ; oh and i can spy on people really well, like i can turn kinda invisible, its worse than glass and light but I try my best!!!

Okay, Ravenna canonically didn’t even want it for anything, so you may have a point.

this and wind are excellent examples of how two mundane and very ineffective elements can be elevated via being a magic. when was the last time you had felt threatened by regular light or wind in real life? most likely very close to zero, but they are able to become recognisably powerful by becoming magic. you give this privilege to light and wind, but not to cloud for no discernable reason

Light can fry things without being amped by magic; its energy, all energy IRL makes heat, its just a byproduct of energy. Take a strong flashlight to a sheet of black paper, it’ll burn up. Magic just makes more light, which would fry things easier.

Wind can also push things easy and can likely move fast enough to do this.

I just cant think of anything Cloud can do, even when its amped up by magic.

I have NEVER seen that, but I have touched an active lightbulb and it hurt a bit, so I can imagine that a magical lightbulb aura can do the same thing and also causes photostress.
