based on what i’ve seen from it, it looks like a good game, though its hard to judge since i haven’t played it. If you’re fine with permadeath, it’s probably gonna be fun.
I’d actually call deepwoken a Good game, and no this isn’t influenced by me playing it recently. Currently all the “bad” design choices like luck, incentive to gank freshies (unless your an asshole of course), barriers (like not being able to progress due to ability to not being able to defeat a certain enemy), etc. are basically gutted and if not being completely removed in verse 2, It isn’t really for everyone however as it still is pretty unforgiving and challenging, so you gotta put in the weeks, and potentially months to actually be DECENT at the game. In terms of roblox i’d actually say its currently the best game on the platform that is currently avaliable, by a LONGSHOT considering that most games on the platform are souless, boring anime games/ simulators, and even the “better” games sadly just don’t have enough quality put in them or rarely get updates anymore. The only complaint i’d put in about it currently is that the community is pretty ass and the dev communication with the community is abysmal, also the meta is extremely unstable so even builds with what is considered extremely high HP can get decimated by hitting a hilarious flamecharm + wind true combo.
However, the pvp and community mess can sometimes be annoying when you only want to progress. (Voidwalker exists)
The parry system is neat but you need to have good timing (apparently a dw player played wom afterwards and was a god of perfect blocking in pvp)
deepwoken is a good game with a lot of bad design choices. I feel like the devs were pressured into a permadeath game by the community without fully understanding what their goal for the game even is. At its core, deepwoken is a souls game and soulslikes tend to lean heavily into PVE and boss fights. Deepwoken on the other hand leans more into PVP, possibly because of community pressure and experience with rogue lineage. Permadeath isn’t a bad mechanic, but in the case of deepwoken it should have been tailored towards the PVE system instead of encouraging PVP.
