its been used not literally so much that the definition contradicts itself
it’s its own antonym, somehow…
pity is a bad excuse for grinding tbh
it doesn’t really solve grinding and is just a lame excuse for why grinding is ok and not a waste of time
doesnt do anything lol
unless pity is like 1000 catches it wont affect 90% of people
I already did the math.
Pity farming is way faster than the 1/1333 with a mag rod
Its still a waste of time anyways you can probably get more value in less time and lower rng but hey if you want a sunken with you’re name slapped on it go ahead
show your math, also keep in mind that farming fish bait is gonna be a lot harder once alt code farming is patched
Ah shit here we go again
mag collectors is ~30 seconds per cast and luring bronze is ~15 seconds
15 x 3000/ 60/60 = 12.5 hours for pity with the fastest rod
Lets say the average odds for magnetic collectors is ~2000 per catch not including pity here.
16 hours for the average catch
For pity with mag collectors rod is 25 hours
all of this is wom based btw so anything can be different
Also for bait farming you can say it’s easier, because increased currency cap and bounty hunting is a efficient way for money
its not though? idk where tf are you getting 2000 from?
Im going off my shitty rng nobody’s rng is the same
go off everyone else’s not shitty rng
No shitty rng gang rise up
how to make fishing not ass:
increase fish sell price
remove the rot mechanic (what was the purpose of this anyways)
add sunkens to sealed chest loot pool (with a much higher rate than fishing)
and no more fishing exclusive equipment
Wont do much, we already have sunken chance and best food-stuts-effect that boost regeneration
Rot mechanic was made so that people could not store their money in fish, same thing was made for arrows. Btw banks are no-more in AO.
You will litteraly kill “fishing” as mechainc. Sealed chests are for"main way of obtaining ship-parts" - vetex
You litteraly killing fishing as mechanic.
don’t forget enchantment scrolls and probably other things I’ve forgotten about.
(you ain’t telling me sealed chests are just for cosmetics, or even just for ship upgrades)
Consider this: If this change makes it so that nobody ever wants to fish again, doesn’t that literally just mean fishing, as it currently is, is a shit mechanic that nobody unironically wants to interact with at all???
to stop inflation, which failed because of crown codes xd
its legit just a feature that will add more content to the game, and i bet at least someone will have a moment when they’re trying to get fish to cook and they pull a sunken piece
Exactly, while guy will be waiting for his homies to come back, or while someone is claiming/protecting island, he can gamble for sunken chance(fish).
Notes are useless too, but they are still in game.
Feature should not be always “usefull” or “be usefull for X”, if dev feel like it, he feel free to add it
Sorry for late reply, was busy busying.
Anyway…
That’s exactly why I hope that fishing is at the very least made less relevant in AO than it was in WoM. I would be fine if fishing was just removed or retained as a fun quirky gimmick that doubled as a way to replenish food supplies, but making fishing as important or relevant as it was in WoM would be disastrous.
Assuming fishing is sidelined, and that there are better ways to farm than fishing, then my rant would no longer apply. I would still think the feature was weird, but I would be unbothered by it’s existence within the game. Assuming it’s sidelined, anyway.
I’m not quite sure what you mean by this. Fishing is a method of procuring items, not an item itself. I’m not against the existence of fish items in AO.
And the fact that it is like that while being grindy and unengaging is the problem.
Yes, in the sense that one doesn’t need to do any particular thing in any game. After all, it’s not very often that one is held at gunpoint and forced to use any mechanics within a game, so I suppose all mechanics in all games, on account of being technically “”“”“avoidable”“”“”, are all perfectly fine. I suppose no one should ever speak negatively about any features in any game, because YOU DONT EVEN NEED TO DO IT!!!.
lol, this is too much.
Fair enough, though I’d forward you to this part of a comment I made.
Assume I said “fishing” and not “catching” in the second sentence.
In relation to your first sentence, see the reply above yours.
As for your second sentence, you’ll just have to accept that colloquial uses of words still count as valid usages of said words. Sorry, I don’t make the rules. That’s just how diachronic linguistics works.
Pity only exists because fishing for rare items exists. If you couldn’t fish for rare items, you wouldn’t need pity.
Would you like to live off of fruit and vegetables? Meat and fish are the way to go, plus the game is sea based, so of course it has fucking fishing.
Probably one of the dumbest and most pointless topics i’ve ever seen. Fishing isn’t going to get removed, and after all of this argument there isn’t any real benefit given to the removal of fishing.
