Is there any actual reason to be a good person?

every body should want to be nice because it make the world more beautiful. thats just my opinion that i think every one working together make human progress leap

to get praise, idk why but people like it. UnU

good point

For future reference, try not to jump in on a conversation that died 10 months ago.

Being a good person will prevent your grave from tasting like salty water

surprisingly i haven’t talked in this topic given how i’m into a broad range of philosophy

but yeah, let this die

I beg to differ.

please stop bumping this its an edgy cauldron of prepubescent teenagers who think they are being smart

this is fucking meaningless :skull:
“this is objectively positive because… it just is ok!!! people like it so its objectively positive and good!!!”
“not everyone likes it? well, most people like it and the ones that aren’t are mentally ill so their opinion doesn’t matter!!!”
“inter-subjectivity? the fuck is that? if most people agree on something its objective!”
bruhhh

same with the wrong one too

honestly not even sure if you know what objective means ngl

bro disproved his own point in the same sentence

2nd paragraph is alright for the most part

all of your points about what’s objectively this or that are just huge ass pulls. you keep assuming things and then still thinking they’re objective

Actually that’s not how it works. You really only have to care about people who share more of your genes instead of more distantly related members of your group unless they reciprocate, making it in your interest to help. It’s true that the group competes with other groups but there’s also significant competition within the group between members unless you’re like ants or bees in which case everybody is your sibling, produces your siblings or is your offspring.

Can’t this wait until morning?

i said that in such a situation it’d only take one second to screw everyone over… how old are you?

because…?
what does positive and negative mean? how can you know for sure? you need to realize that morality is simply a social construct, and that any view on morality possible is equally valid. our view on morality and right and wrong should be based on how useful it is for society, not on trying to find and measure some objective standard for morality that doesn’t exist

what?

I feel like this is gonna get out of hand but I’m too tired to do anything rn

“no, i can’t concede, it’ll mean i can’t argue anymore” :skull:

Being a construct = Doesn’t exist

Peak logical thinking, tangible existence is seperate from philosophical constructs and that would be a false equivalency

Equally unvalid*

Due to moral error theory

Mental disorders are also a social construct. The definition of what is and isn’t a disorder has changed numerous times in the past. For example, hysteria and homosexuality were both considered mental disorders in the past. PTSD (called shellshock) was redefined from a fear that soldiers experience to a broad diagnosable mental disorder. The definition of “mental disorder” changes alongside the moral paradigm.

There is a difference between moral subjectivism and moral nihilism. You can believe that morality is subjective and simultaneously believe some things are moral and some are not.

what beneficial purpose was this thread made for apart from sparking meaningless debate and intentionally pissing people off, and why is this on an online game forum instead of more prevalent social media sites or in the real world?
