Is there any actual reason to be a good person?

That’s like saying a dead person can’t commit murder. We’re kinda excluding them.

thank god you cured cancer cause this thread is giving me some

Bruh, it’s not a dead person though. Your statement was proved invalid so you’re altering it…
Claiming you can “always” do something falls into the Raven Paradox

Yeah, I’m glad someone else asked this.
The only reason I’d say you should be a good person is because quite a few people couldn’t just be liars and act friendly to people, but then turn around and be an asshole for your benefit; human concious is ridiculously strong, making a lot of people unable to do it.

But for those who can… Go for it, I guess. You’re clearly the cream of the crop, you’ve managed to ascend further beyond animalistic, binding things. Your liberty is there, you just need the domineering to lead you to becoming the next great change in humanity. Go for it, I say, you’re stronger than I am, you deserve it.

I’m going to settle this once and for all

Is it reasonable to be a good person?
  • yes
  • no

I don’t even get this thread anymore. Now it’s talking about how we can be evil if we want. Like sure, multiverses and Schrodinger’s cat and all of that. You can also piss your pants right now, but you’re not gonna do that because it’s just unnecessary and dumb.

I totally agree, plus everyone is throwing around big words like they’re a 12 yr old that just learned the word “fuck”

Alright I give up the point that you can always commit evil because there’s no reason to argue it.

But honestly a braindead person is effectively dead (for the purposes of this argument).

Might as well say “most of the time there’s nothing that physically prevents you from being evil”.
Either way it’s not relevant, the question is asking for a “general” reason.

This is how I normally talk.

it’s not just you :fr:

It would make sense that you would talk this way writer man

I’ll try to use less words, you’re right that some of them are unnecessary.

Saying a statement that vague is at the point of saying
“most of the time there’s nothing stopping you from breathing”

Yeah. You’re right about that.

But it isn’t important to the question, which has the context:

which kinda suggests a “over time” sort of thing. As you yourself noted, you literally have to be basically dead or dying to not be able to commit evil.

Not really, I just named a possibility, say I lived in Antarctica with parents deceased with their corpses too far to reach and never faced any wildlife, the most “evil” thing I could possibly do is commit suicide

Ok, you basically have to be in a super extreme situation. Antarctica. Braindead. Most people aren’t in antarctica or braindead.

it’s reasonable yes
but not necessary

everyone in this world could be total dickheads and the earth would keep spinning

ok i know i wouldn’t post until i solved my situation before.
but a serious question remains here.

What the actual fuck is oatmeal?

it’s when you take oats and boil them

Your original statement wasn’t “most people.” Also most people who have lived are completely dead so would that count as “most people”?

Also what if someone was a hermit who never visited family, there’s plenty of people like that(Not an extremely large amount but more than the amount of people braindead)

no cause you’ll just burn the oats
i’ve tried.
