Kinda late but what do you guys think about this?

Honestly I’d be ok with it if it was like a one time purchase but I’d honestly prefer if we just had ao’s version of deepwoken’s trial of one doing a series of quests that level you up really fast and skip the storyline but are wayy more difficult

yeah but most of the difficult quests in this game are based off rng, as you can usually get a better player to carry you

also if vertex rips off to1 he will never hear the end of it

Imo it’s just, too predatory.
It’s essentially just: “Give me your playtime (premium payouts/engagement inflation) or your money (starter packs).”
All that while vetex is adding a way to reset your magic (yet no easy way to reset your class), it really feels like he’s having a conflict in his head about making his game more enjoyable or making it more predatory.

Please vetex, stop making your games more of a hassle to casual players…

Not necessarily a rip off if he does a short series of quests instead of a dungeon you have the major mobs with

It feels really fucking greedy especially since you’d have to buy at least 5 or 6 of these gamepasses to have a fully max level slot in seconds

It’s a PVE game, Obviously the PVE would be a hassle or will procedingly start being a hassle

Arcane Adventures worked because you could only make one file, so while being unable to change your magic wasn’t really nice, it wasn’t necessary to enjoy the game as there was no diversity in builds in the first place (armours were all just about defense or power, magics were relatively similar, there was no synergies and metaslaving wasn’t all that big).

Do you even play video games..? There’s so many out there that are exclusively singleplayer/pve and are still good after hundreds of hours of playtime.
And anyways, this isn’t what I was even remotely talking about in the first place, so why even bring it up?

Arcane odyssey is obviously different with the multiple files, different builds and synergies

I think for the health of the game having progress on certain things should carry over across slots like gem crafting skills

Heck I’d even take have a slight exp boost for each time you finish the storyline on a slot

My life is mostly Video games and I usually enjoy both aspects of PVE and PVP, wouldn’t be on a game’s forums if I didn’t

These are free ways to bypass the files issue + It requires a good chunk of PVE skill to obtain. I don’t see why you find the Non pay to win option as an issue

What do you actually mean by predatory? The game’s mechanics and skills are easier compared to other complex games i’ve played. If your struggling with AO then maybe your the one bad at video games

And this comes from a Solo player, the game gets even easier with allies and friends.

Vetex intends to make a PVE game with few aspects of PVP and multi-player interaction

If the game is too hard then find a few friends and tag together to combat it. you can’t expect him to feed every single player from the new to the late game players

I disagree on the former point—though I hate jewelcrafting and think there should be a way to get high-quality jewels even at a low level.

I meant gaining the gem crafting skill at max after completing the storyline on that slot
I really like the idea of some permanent progression across files

at that,

I think vetex made the system to align with the game’s “endgame” it’s just that we are VERY VERY far from the endgame being completed and so the progression feels a bit annoying

But this shouldn’t feel like a issue to newer players who join the game after we get more story and content updates

sadly most of us long term players would never get the real AO experience so that’s gonna run like that

Because they’re time consuming.
Magic resets found exclusively in the far reaches and are RNG based (time to get there + time to find one, it is a nice addition yes, but it remains time consuming and I bet that there’d be no way to know of it in-game without stumbling upon them).
Acrimonies being obtained based on RNG (time consuming).
Making a new slot instead costing 5+ hours of your lifespan all while the gameplay itself is boring because it’s the same repetitive story.

Predatory game design mechanics made to make you spend your time playing whatever video game makes use of them so that they can obtain more money from you, either by slowly brainwashing you into wanting to spend some, or by sharing the game with others merely by playing it.
You were literally one singular google search away from learning that, why did you instead decide to ask me about it before making an argument based on your assumption of its definition?

well his choices were;

  1. add this, a method of leveling quickly for new files and get a bit of cash
  2. some method for leveling super quick in game, which would trigger the anticheat and get everyone banned
  3. do nothing, and make people level up normally, which would take too long

Couldn’t he just not make it that fast? The quick method for leveling up should take an hour at least
