“Har har, funny joke.” Hecto said un-enthusiastically as he blankly stared at the piece of paper that Typ was holding. “Logan the ferocious was presumed dead by the navy a long time ago, this obviously is just someone tryna have a laugh on us.”
Typ on the other hand was bursting with excitement and quickly countered Hecto’s point. “BUT HECTO! look! this parchment is so old! this probably has been floating at sea for who knows how long! it could be true!”
“Typ, the damn thing doesn’t give any coordinates, any names, or anything at all helpful, it’s just probably some practical joke made by some prick for shits n’ giggles.” Hecto replied.
“OH come on hecto! there’s nobody near us at the moment! don’t you think this is maybe like fate telling us about an awesome journey ahead of us!? I mean come on we were talking about becoming pirates just moments ago! this is our chance!”
“Well…” Hecto was thinking to himeself. “The navy never managed to find out exactly how Logan died… so I mean it’s plausible that Logan got marooned on some mysterious island and starved to death… Okay but Typ, riddle me this, so let’s say we suddenly decide to become these pirates to locate logan’s riches, but how are we gonna do so without even at least a boat to begin with?”
“Hmmm…” Typ pondered. “Well how about we go and look at the docks on the other side of town and see what kind of boats there are! maybe we can buy a small one?”
And so Typ and Hecto wandered over to the much more busy side of town, where they looked at all the boats.
“So, literally no boat is within our budget, besides one” Hecto said, as he pointed towards a small rowboat. “I don’t know about you but, that does not look like the boat that pirates use.”
“Well, maybe we can use it to get to the next island and look for some jobs to save up for a bigger boat!” Typ replied. “Come on hecto, it’s better than nothing, we have enough to buy it anyways, and besides it’s not like we can’t swim if it sinks”
So Typ, and reluctantly, Hecto, purchased the rowboat, and set their sights for the next large town where they would look for jobs to save up for a bigger, more proper, pirate ship.
“Well Hecto! our journey begins!” Typ exclaimed “Did you bring the oranges for the trip?”
“Typ we’re gonna be at sea for tops an hour I doubt we need them, but here, some tangerines.” Hecto handed Typ a couple.
“Well, here we go!” Typ and Hecto boarded the small boat, and floated off into the open water, their journey has begun…
