i hope limbus is funding a something like this
a dmc or similar type game with pms stuff would be cool

I know that Canto 4 got adjustments, it’s just what I remember most from it when I did it. I also know that they are normalizing 3* id’s which has good and bad parts to it.

It is a gacha game because it has a gacha system. It doesn’t describe the whole game on it’s own (that’s why other genre words exist), but it is absolutely a prominent aspect of the game.

People in the first year or so of the game were saying that it was a forgiving gacha and stuff. That’s probably true, but I just feel like that “nice gacha” title doesn’t hold up anymore because they want to make profits and said so (at least they’re honest).

Agree with 15x3 design being bad though.

Fee like I’ve said this already, but I like how they’re making functional id’s that are kind of unique/fun mechanically, but they could still do this without powercreep. Everybody and their family hag now has gradual 2 coin power conditionals and damage conditionals. I don’t think powercreep should be liked at all though? It’s like a temporary high that makes everything worse later.


Just wanted to give my two cents on the open world convo, but I would love an open world game about one of the districts. U Corp reminded me of Arcane Odyssey, imagine if the Chimera Sea was like this?

I don’t see an issue with PM’s powercreep. IDs are being made off of canonically stronger people, so therefore it makes sense for newer identities to be objectively stronger

the issue is when older ids become genuinely horrific to use in comparison
main example i can think of is KK ryoshu vs KK ishmael or heathcliff
average s3 peaks at 50 dmg for ryoshu, and 100-300 with ishmael or heathcliff

i dont personally think its healthy game design for the older ids to become damn near obsolete just due to being vastly worse than the newer ones

ryoshu is one of the worst example you could use for this, given that she has a niche with her extreme bleed count application.

Regardless, this simply is the flow that PM is taking, where they would rather identities be closer to lore strength.

there is 0 need for bleed count due to ring outis.

even if they added more upties, i just cant see myself using the old ones

imagine if the PM team made it so ID’s are locked from gacha until you complete that part of the canto/finish the canto
(its so over for newer players, this would be so devious)

Mhm, it’s not dark and edgy and has cool colors. I’d love to see some piece of AO take some inspriation from the Great Lake.

I’ve seen this so many times and it doesn’t make any sense. It’s on the same level as making gameplay worse for “lore”, and I though the AO community hated that.

I think powercreep is always bad because it’s unhealthy for the game in the long run. Old units become unusable and new content has to be insanely difficult to do it’s job at being fun.

This. They already figured out how to make coherent id’s a while ago and how to add a fun twist somewhat recently (aka not stuff like the liu’s or butlers where they technically work but are so bland). Every id can shit out 300-400+ damage with their conditions fully fulfilled and that number just gets larger. I though the level cap increases were enough for the big number dopamine?

She’s one of the better examples he could’ve chosen because they attempted to add forced synergy for her. She’s also not laughably bad at a glance.


And about an uptie 5, I actually would really hate that. 4 upties already works really well for the game. You get to choose between budget (3) or bigger numbers (4), and that’s been the balance for a long time. I don’t think a third would be necessary, it would probably just increase coin power and % damage conditionals because PM ran out of creativity for uptie 4 buffs a long time ago.

Uptie 5 would be ridiculously expensive and would probably cause an even worse reaction than uptie 4. You would also have to slog through the terrible upties in the older id’s which feels unnecessary when they could just buff them.

The reason I think an uptie 5 probably will and should happen is because that’s the only way PM can globally buff all the bad/mediocre IDs to actually do things in new content.

To my very limited understanding, it sounds like directly rebalancing IDs is a legal nightmare in Korea.

me personally, as a free-to-play player, I don’t see an issue with uptie 5 costs. Maybe it’s because I don’t have 90% of the game’s E.G.O. or IDs, but I have more than enough resources for uptie 5 on my team. Besides, if they were to make it, they’d likely make better thread luxcavations, anyways.
